Charles ALEXANDER Obituary

ALEXANDER, Jr., Charles
Thomas 'Charlie'
Died July 2, 2012 at his Sacramento home. Charlie, son of Ina and 'Big Charlie' was born September 7, 1957 in Oakland, California. Charlie is survived by his much loved daughter, Megan Alexander of Rescue, California. While life took them in different directions, his love for Megan was constant.

The family moved to Elk Grove in 1963 where Charlie and his childhood buddies spent many summers exploring the once rural fields of Elk Grove on Jacinto Road. Charlie attended Elk Grove High School and could be seen cruisin' in his infamous GTX. He was a member of the Elk Grove Wrestling team for 3 years, earning himself both a league and sub-section championship in his 132 lb. weight division. In 1976, he participated in a Wrestling Exchange program touring Japan and facing off with some fierce Japanese competition. As an adult, Charlie was a member of Operating Engineers and worked for over 35 years as a heavy equipment operator. Charlie married Sandra Joan Messner in 1985, mother of his cherished daughter, Megan.

In addition to his mother, Ina, Charlie is survived by his brother Guy Alexander of Loomis, sisters Cindy Byrd and Bonnie Perry, both of Yuba City and Kay Larson of Roseville as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Thomas Alexander, Sr. and brother Johnny Alexander.

A private family memorial was held. In recognition of his love for the sport of wrestling, any remembrances may be sent to CosumnesOaks High School Wrestling Program, 8350 Lotz Parkway, Elk Grove, California 95757, Attn: Coach Dean Reichenberg.
