Chris Axelgard

AXELGARD, CHRIS
In Sacramento, CA on July 17th, 2003. He now joins Elizabeth, his beloved wife who preceded him, and is survived by the families of his sons, Bill, John and Jim Axelgard. He was the beloved brother of Nan, Marguerite, Stina, Wiggo, Walter and Bill, grandfather of Ashby, Romi, Aris, Mark, Danie, Dalton, Dane and Reeve Axelgard, and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Son of the late Christian T. and Karen M. Axelgard. He was a graduate of Utah State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He worked for the Grant Union School District from 1954-1980 as a coach and teacher and during that time became the Principal of Rio Linda Jr. High School for approximately 20 years. Chris was also a victorious coach in the innaugural Optimist Football Game here in Sacramento. He was also a member of the Utah Sports Hall of Fame and a veteran of WW II. A native of Utah, he was 35 year resident of Sacramento aged 85. Friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be offered for the repose of his soul on Friday the 25th of July, at 11:00am, at Holy Spirit Church, Land Park Drive at Cordano Way. Interment will follow at East Lawn Sierra Hills Memorial Park, 5757 Greenback Lane.
