Constance Alexander Tyack passed away peacefully on April 17, 2012. Connie was born May 24, 1920, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the only child of Claude and Gertrude Alexander, who lovingly called her 'Dolly'. While she was still an infant, her parents traveled west to join her mother's family in Lodi, making the journey mostly on dirt roads and camping along the way. Then and later, her father supported the family with his work as a mechanic, operating a garage near Alhambra Boulevard in Sacramento for many years.

Connie graduated from Sacramento High School in 1938. She finished her required courses a year early then took the art classes that sparked her lifelong interest in painting and related arts and crafts. In October of 1939, Connie married Cliff Tyack. In 1945, their son Gary was born, and Steve was born three years later. After the war, Cliff and Connie built a house on 2nd Avenue next to the old State Fairgrounds, and Connie provided daycare in their home. In 1955, they bought the home in Parkway Estates where they lived for the next 30 years. Always full of energy and ideas, Connie started a dance club for her teenaged sons and their friends, and she became an expert in nutrition and an enthusiastic amateur chef of international cuisine.

After her sons were grown, Connie went to work full time for Wells Fargo Bank, from which she retired after 15 years. She took up golf and won several tournaments, and she and Cliff enjoyed golfing and traveling. They also enjoyed visits from their grandchildren, who were blessed by the example of Connie's optimism and faith in 'the guy upstairs'.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff. She is survived by Gary and Beverly Tyack; Steve and Jane Tyack; granddaughters, Dulcey, Caren, Margo, and Julia; grandchildren, Madalyn, Noah, Hayden, Lennon, and Calla; and godson Mark Farley and wife Pam.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service Friday, May 4, 10am at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1701 L Street, Sacramento. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be sent to Sacramento Children's Home.
