Dale Helton Obituary

Dale Alan Helton passed away on August 25, 2025 at the age of 72 after a long battle with lung cancer.

Born on May 9, 1953 at Travis Air Force Base to Buddy and Joyce Helton, Dale was the younger brother to Charlie. He attended Folsom High School, then went on to graduate from CSU Sacramento in 1975, earning his bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance; he began his career with the Internal Revenue Service, quickly transitioning into private practice as an accountant, building a respected career through his dedication and precision. His clients and colleagues alike valued his integrity and his thoughtful approach.

Dale was an avid 49ers fan and long-time season ticket holder, instilling his love for football and the 49ers in his daughter and grandsons. He rarely missed a chance to celebrate happy hour, where he found camaraderie, conversation, and a well-earned "Dale Driver" at the end of a long workday.

The final months of Dale's life included many challenges; his suffering was eased by numerous visits from family and friends.

Dale is survived by his brother, Charlie Helton; his daughter, Marque-Diane Vassar; his son-in-law, Steve Vassar; and his grandsons and greatest joys, Jake and Drew Vassar.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, October 4th from 2-5 p.m. at Scott's Seafood Roundhouse in Folsom. The family requests that guests wear either blue (Dale's favorite color) or Hawaiian attire.
