Daniel Paul King passed away on Nov. 10, 2016, son of Velma & Lester King. Born Nov. 28, 1943 in Sacramento, CA. Survived by Jeanette, his wife of 55 years, his two sons Tim (Sheri) and Paul (Christy), and four grandchildren, Austin, Bailey, Dalton & Danielle. He is also survived by his older sister, Darlene Hathcock. He was best known as Owner/Operator of King's Skate Country, he grew up in Franklin, CA. and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1961. He met his wife at King's Roller Rink in Franklin, CA. When Dan was 20 years old he inherited the family skating business with his mother, Velma, when his father suddenly passed away in April of 1964. He went on to expand the business to four locations, Elk Grove, Sacramento, Reno & Sparks, NV. He was a kind and loyal friend and businessman. All that knew him would see a smile on his face. He worked hard and enjoyed meeting and working with people of all ages. Memorial Services will be held Thurs., 11-17-16 at 3:00p.m. at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA. 95624.

Some of my fondest memories are roller skating at Kings Skate Country. I spent my childhood there. I participated in artistic and speed skating. Danny was always kind and nice to everyone. It was a fun place. RIP Danny. You are missed.

When I was a kid I always had fun when we went to uncle Dan an aunt Jeanettes either skating at the Franklin Rink or swimming in their pool it was always a good time lots of fond memories got to ride in his red Corvette cool car. He was always super nice a really good guy and he will be missed.

Such a sad day. He was a stand up guy, a well known and liked man in the community and he carried on the tradition of his family with the beloved King's Skating Rink! He will be missed by many.

What Danny offered me and my friends was so much more than a place to skate!! It was like a home. A skating family.I spent most my time at "Old Kings" under the supervision of Dan's mom "Mrs. King and Nellie....... They ran a tight ship..... and made amazing Nellie Burgers! I met friend that have lasted a lifetime!!! My interactions with Dan was more when I played Girls/Woman's hockey.... Both Dan and Jeanette King were the force behind the sport, years of great times through hockey thanks to the Kings. WOW, really such a BIG part of my life. Last time I was able to see Dan was at the closing of Kings Skate Country on Bradshaw...... I can never say THANK YOU enough. RIP Daniel King!! I hope the big disco ball keeps spinning to your favorite song <3 Love and prayers to the family♥ XOXO

Danny was a high school classmate and I remember his kindness to everyone, a wonderful smile. His family brought so much fun to kids at their roller rink, lots of fond memories. The family can be very proud of a life well lived. I know Danny has left a void for many.

I skated at Kings Skate Country on Bradshaw every Saturday while growing up in the 70's. My brother and I were lucky enough to have known Mr. King. Mr. King was always so kind and generous to us kids, and we looked up to him. He would let us "fix" skates or pick up skates tossed about the rink and put them back on the shelves so we could stay for another skating session. My favorite memories of childhood are of Kings Skate Country and Mr. King always with a smile and encouraging word. He was a great man and will be missed. Deep condolences to Mr. King's family.
