David BOSTICK Obituary

BOSTICK, David Glenn
Was born February 19, 1967 in Lakeview Terrace, CA and died February 23, 2010 in Sacramento, CA. Dave moved to Milpitas, CA when he was 7 years old where he began his illustrious baseball career. Dave moved to Elk Grove, CA when he was 13 and in his first year in Elk Grove, he made friendships that would last the rest of his life. Dave graduated from Elk Grove High in 1985 and worked for UPS for 23 years. Dave was the epitome of the famous UPS driver. He was rarely seen in anything but UPS brown shorts showing off those legs and he never had a hair out of place. Dave's smile would light up a room and the sound of his distinctive voice would always remind you that you were in the company of a true friend. Dave made friends wherever he went, especially as he traveled the country wearing his #5 jersey on various fast pitch softball teams. Dave will be deeply missed by his loving family and numerous friends. We will remember the comedy and celebrate the good times we've had with him. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Dean Bostick. He is survived by his mother, Janice Hillyard, his sister Karen and brother Tom and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and, nephews. A celebration of Dave's life will be held in the near future. For information regarding the celebration, contact Rusty at [email protected]. We will always love you Bostick!

I have so many fond memories of Dave. I loved him like a brother. It's going to be hard to see my brother, Wayne, without Dave at his side. He was surrounded by many good friends who really loved him. My heart goes out to all of you who were close to him.

We first met Dave when he became a good friend of our son, Matt. They played baseball together in their younger years. Dave was at our house often and came to the river with us, waterskiing.
We enjoyed him always.
It saddens us to have to say Goodbye~
On Earth as it in Heaven your smile will live in our hearts, forever. May peace with you~

I was completely blown away when I heard about Dave. For twenty years we were either opponents or teammates, but always friends. After I retired from softball, we sort of lost touch. He was an outstanding shortstop and an even better person. I told him many times that if I was to build a new fastpich team, he would be my first pick. His talent was only exceeded by his heart. My prayers go out to his family. He will be missed.

~ May you rest in peace Dave ~

I met Dave in 2003. He played fast-pitch ball with my husband Rob. He was a great shortstop and I enjoyed watching all the guys play. The Rockers were more then teammates...they were best friends. I remember Dave as a very sweet man and he will be greatly missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his numerous friends.

I worked with Dave at UPS in the Fair Oaks center for many years. Even though he moved to the Rancho center and then to the River City center he will always be considered a Fair Oaks driver. The last time I spoke to Dave he was really happy about his new route in the downtown area. Dave loved to talk about sports and of course he really loved to play softball/baseball. I remember golfing with Dave and a few of the guys from work, we had a good time out there on the course. Dave was fun to be with and he was a pretty good golfer too. I am really going to miss him because he had such a great personality; always upbeat, always smiling, and always joking. It saddens me to know Dave is gone........ I will continue to pray for his friends and family during this difficult time.

Even though I hadn't seen Dave in nearly 17 years, I thought of him often. I pray that he can rest and he was truly a wonderful person.

I will always remember your funny speech at Kristi and Fidel"s wedding, how you talked about Fidel and Dave, Fidel and Dave and then came along Kristi. I also remember you and the guys always singing "Family Tradition" when you"d do kareoke. You will be missed by many

I truly realize and I know everyone else does as well why some of us continue to play such a wonderful game on a field called a diamond. Playing this game has created such a brotherhood of friends and what I consider one BIG family…….. When one of us leaves the field for the Diamond in the sky……. We can only hope that #5 (DB) is in a better place. R.I.P. Dave Bostick…. “Play Ball” guys!!!!
