I knew David when I worked with him at the Daily Northwestern. He had a way of keeping things calm when all heck was breaking out in the newsroom. "Sometimes you ride the bear," he liked to say. "And sometimes the bear rides you." I thought of him saying that the other day. Only today did I learn of his passing.

I just learned of Dave's passing from the Northwestern alumni magazine. I worked with him on the Daily Northwestern and have many treasured memories of his wit, his love of music and his skill as a journalist. Travel on, my friend. Tom Collazo

I have such fond memories of David when we were classmates at Northwestern, where both of us spent more time working at the Daily Northwestern than we did actually attending classes. He was a smart and kind man, and I'm grateful he was my friend. RIP.
