Deborah PATRICK Obituary

On October 7, 2016, Deborah Patrick passed away after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Sacramento, CA on November 22, 1953 and is survived by her husband, Monty Mayfield, parents William and Lucille Patrick, sister Cathy Patrick, aunt Betty Moore and many other relatives. William and Lucille, Deb's parents, put a high value on integrity and always "doing the right thing" which are values they instilled in their two daughters. Deb considered herself a very lucky person to have had the family she had and to have crossed paths with the dear lifelong friends she made over the years. She felt the number of those precious friendships far exceeded the saying "one can count their true friends on one hand". She graduated with a BS in Marketing from CSUS while employed for the State of California where she eventually worked for over 34 years, mostly for the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. She was appointed to the position of Warden during the last few years of her career, and credited her success to the many fine persons she had the pleasure of working with. Her hobbies included softball and snow skiing in younger years, horse competitions and a little ranch work in her middle years, and wine tasting, spending time with friends and telling "re-ride" stories in her later years. Humor played a big part in all three of these phases. Deb and her family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the kind, compassionate care she received from Dr. David Campbell, nursing staff Robin, Sarah, Kirstin, Dana, Emily and the technicians and office staff in the cancer care facility at the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. Her fine medical care often included moments of humor and friendship, which meant so much to her. Deb requested that no services be held. Donations in her memory may be made to any of the 6 charities she donated to for years: St. Judes Children's Hospital, Make-A-Wish, ASPCA, Livestrong Organization, Susan G. Komen Foundation or Wounded Warriors.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Debbie at CCWF, I admired her work ethic and really appreciated her sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

I extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Deborah Patrick. I met "Debbie" around 1991 when we both worked for the Northern California Women's Facility. Later, we both promoted to different institutions and had an opportunity to again work at the same institution when we both transferred to the newly activated Valley State Prison for Women. My relationship with Debbie was always positive and I admired her skill in managing budgets. After I left the prison, I called her once for advice and she was very supportive and I shall always cherish her words to me. She was a true professional, and in my opinion, because of her budgetary skills in managing millions of dollars in prison funds, the warden was absolutely worry free about the numerous expenditures/compliances required to run a prison. May the family find comfort in knowing that Debbie made a huge difference in the efficiency of managing state prisons, and ensuring that female inmates received mandatory resources and services. May she rest in peace and remain forever in our hearts.

Patrick family, so sorry to hear about your loss. I worked with Debby at SCO for several years and her and Paula played softball together for a few seasons. She was a good friend, with a great sense of humor. After she left SCO, we lost contact but I often wondered how she was doing in her new career.
