A courageous, six-month battle with cancer ended on August 26, 2002, with the death of Dexter DelMar. Encircled by family and friends, Dexter's last moments were filled with the love that defined his life. Anthony Dexter DelMar, born January 24, 1947, in Sacramento, California, traveled extensively in his lifetime, including spending time in the newest states of Alaska and Hawaii. But once he met Amie Malouf, Texas became his home, and Dexter settled in to help raise his stepdaughter, Tammie Petry, as well as his many nieces and nephews. Born into the large and loving family of Frances and Bill DelMar, who have preceded him in death, Dexter is survived by sisters, Colleen Davis, Corrine Kline, Alice Evangelista, and Evelyn Villasor, and brother, Frank Lagura. One brother, Hank Villasor is deceased. Dexter will be remembered not just as a good man, but as an accepting and magnanimous human being. Imbued with a gentle and sweet spirit, he had a knack for living and loving well. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday at Sparkman/ Hillcrest on Northwest Highway.
