Dorothy JEFFRIES Obituary

JEFFRIES, Dorothy A.
Passed away after a short illness on Saturday, May 25, 2013.She rejoins her husband of 31 years, the late Kenneth D. Jeffries, who retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after 28 years.

Dorothy was born November 14, 1923 in Northampton, England to Arthur and Rachel Brown.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, sister Winefred and brother Arthur. Her lone living sister, Sheila remains in England.

Her 'can do' spirit began in the early days of WWII. Located inside a converted local bus station was a plant that was manufacturing the British-built, Lancaster Bomber. Her small stature enabled her to squeeze into the cramped cockpit to successfully install electrical wiring looms using only a wiring schematic, something she had never done before. During these days, she met the love of her life. Knicknamed 'Jeff', he was a farm boy turned B-17 tail-gunner, stationed in Europe. After the war, she traveled to America where they married. Together, they had three sons, Dana, wife Linda, Rick, wife Linda and Michael, wife Shelley Her grandchildren are Cynthia Stephanie, Gavin, Christianna and Ashlyne. Her great-grandchildren are Emma and Ava.

Dorothy enjoyed her cows and chickens, German Shepherds, gardening, long walks, bus trips to Lake Tahoe with friends and volunteering at Snowline Hospice Thrift Stores.

Her graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00 am at East Lawn Mortuary, located at 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento.

Mom, I can still remember your laughter at jokes and your wonderful sense of humor. Your love of flowers has me planting those same roses as you had in that same garden area under the big oak tree in the back. I have run drip water lines so know there are many plants, flowers and fruit trees like dad and I had planted. There are cows roaming again, just like you loved. I remember you comforting Misty as she gave birth, talking softly and soothing her. Your hummingbirds are still here swiftly swirling around the multiple feeders we have set up.
The land is still much the same as when you were here and I know during quiet times, you and dad still walk the paths through the oaks and tall grasses. I miss you and love you!

We miss you terribly but know you are where you wanted and were ready to be. Thank you so much for the wonderful
comfort you gave us and it was a wonderful experience to have you live with us all, especially for your grand daughters. I know dad bad been waiting patiently all these years for you, and today, as we join you both together in ceremony, I know you both will remain forever in our hearts. We love you!!!
