Dorothy Lopes

1924 - 2017

Dorothy Lopes passed away Wednesday November 29, 2017 at the age of 93 in Lincoln, CA. Dorothy was born June 29, 1924 in Chicago, IL. Her parents, Harriet and Fred Schneider raised five children during the Great Depression. On June 29, 1943 she married her high school sweetheart Joseph Rauwolf and had three sons, Joe, Jerry and Jack. She had the "Can Do" attitude and worked in the defense factories during WWII, Where she welded gas cans used by the troops. In 1950 she and Joe moved to Sacramento, CA. to raise their three sons. After their divorce in 1964, she raised her three boys, on her own, through their formative years. During the Vietnam War she had a son serving in the Navy, Air Force and Army. Swinging a hammer, she built her own house in Sacramento. Dorothy worked at the Sacramento Army Depot until her retirement. There she met and fell in love with Lou Lopes and they were married on November 2, 1978 and her family grew, adding Linda, Cathi, Patricia, Stephen and Julie. Dorothy and Lou had a wonderful life traveling all over the world and enjoying all their family and friends. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Lou, and her oldest son, Joe. She is survived by sons Jerry (Kathryn) Rauwolf, Jack (Devon Stewart) Rauwolf, along with Linda (Dan) Frietas, Cathi (Bob) Serpa, Patricia (Allen) Don, Stephen (Naomi) Lopes, Julie (Bob) Anderson and Joe's wife Sally Rauwolf. Dorothy is also survived by many family and friends too numerous to name. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday January 13, 2018 at 11:00AM at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 4450 Granite Dr. Rocklin, CA. 95677 (916)624-5827. Reception immediately to follow at the social hall next to the church. Interment will be January 16, 2018 at 1:00PM at Newcastle Cemetery at 850 Taylor Rd. Newcastle, CA. 95658, (916) 663-4660.
