The son of Edward Patrick Evans Sr, and Katherine Evans, he was born January 28, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he grew up and graduated from Southeast Catholic High School. He studied Korean at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey and served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He was honorably discharged in California where he met the love of his life, his wife Sharon to whom he was married from 57 years. Together they raised three children Rocky (Joseph Hansen), Katey Scott (Bob), and Patrick (Yvette). Family was the focus of his life and he will be dearly missed by granddaughter Miranda Evans, sisters Kathleen Sullivan of Erma New Jersey and Gerri Baegio of Philadelphia, as well as by a his in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ed retired from the State of California after 40 years of service and was very active in the community including with the Sacramento City Unified School District, the Sacramento Swimming League, and Sacramento City College. Ed was a huge fan of the athletic teams at Sacramento City College, and Sac City football was his passion. He proudly worked as the Panthers' statistician for over 25 years. He was a generous and loving friend to many and will be missed by all. There will be a celebration of his life Saturday, May 27 at W.F. We are very sorry for you loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to the Evans family. Ed was such a big supporter of Luther Burbank High School. He touched the lives of many students who benefitted from his kindness and caring.

Mr. Evans was fatherly to me since age 13. I befriended his son and had no idea that this was the equivalent to being adopted by their entire family. After years of discussions about track, relationships, school, family, music, and the silliness in the world, after eating at their dinner table with him and his family on many a night, after all this time...I can truly say that he has had a profound impact on my life as he helped shape my values and offered his support and understanding for more than 40 years. I will miss his wisdom, sense of humor and love, and I will live my life as if he's watching, because...he is. Blessing to the Evans family. I'm always here for you in these trying times. We are family, and as Mr. Evans would want us to do...we will continue to move forward. I will do so in his honor. Peace.

Dear Sharon and family - You know how much we loved and depended upon Ed. And you. He was so smart and kind. My parents, too, loved him. I loved working with him at FTB...smartest guy in the room, but he did not push himself. No matter; we knew. Love to you all. Kelly Collins Scoles
