Gary Hughes Obituary

Born Aug. 18, 1942 in Pueblo Co., passed away Oct. 12, 2013 in Chester Ca. Preceded in death by his parents Roy E. Hughes and LaVon (Plummer) Hughes, son Kevin and brother-ln-law Bill Staplin. Gary is survived by his loving wife Brenda of 25 years, daughter Kimberly, brother Bryant, sister-in-law Alice, sister Phyllis Staplin, grand-daughters Ashli and Ami Hughes, grandson Kristopher French, stepson Larry Brent, six great grandchildren and several neices and nephews. He was raised and attended school in Citrus Heights, Ca. where his family settled in 1945. He graduated from San Juan High School in 1960 and after graduation joined the U.S. Navy. After discharge from the Navy he worked for Mather Air Force Base, Arizona Dept. of Corrections and Lassen County School Dist. from which he retired. Moving to the Lassen/Plumas Co. area was a perfect fit for him because he loved hunting and fishing. More importantly he met his lovely wife Brenda there. After retirement he added golf to his activities and became an avid golfer. He will be greaty missed by those who knew and loved him. At Gary's request, no services will be held. The family requests that any rememberances be donated to The American Breast Cancer Foundation.
