I had the joy of meeting a young Harry Pitts Hoffman in the summer of 1961. It was fleet week and Harry and a friend went to an amusement park in the Bronx where I worked. After spending time that day he asked me to dinner the following day and we went to a very famous Italian restaurant in Manhattan called Mama Leoni´s. After that we corresponded and he invited me to attend a ball at Annapolis. We spent thanksgiving weekend and the memory of that time makes me smile. He was such a kind and wonderful young man and I always hoped he had a good life. Knowing he was one of the many heroes in the Viet Nan made me very proud. I remembered him often over the years and may his soul rest in peace.
