Henry Fontes

1939 - 2025

Henry (Hank) Fontes was born in Sacramento, CA on June 28, 1939. He passed away on September 27, 2025 at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rachel, parents Jack Sr. and Emma, siblings James, Robert, Jack Fontes and Jeanette Tavares. He is survived by his children Henry (Troy) Fontes (Victoria) and Debra Fontes, step-children Ernie Montez and Cathy Toney, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He served in the US Navy in his early years, and later retired from the Sacramento Army Depot. In his retirement years, he worked at Lumberjack, played in senior softball leagues, umpired softball games, coached football and track. Hank loved to fish, bowl, go camping, play poker as well as pinochle. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served as a Grand Knight and held 4th degree status. He was also a member of the VFW Post 391. He mostly enjoyed being with family and friends, always willing to give a helping when he could. His presence will be missed.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 10 a.m. within the St. Joseph Chapel on-site at the east side of St. Mary's Cemetery, 6509 Fruitridge Road.
