Herbert Knopp Obituary

Herbert Knopp, 88, passed away peacefully from natural causes at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, California on June 16, 2017. Born May 14, 1929 in Hamtramck, Michigan, only son of Margaret and Walter Knopp. Drafted into the Korean War and upon discharge, trained as an engineer by Ford Motor Co. in Detroit. Moved his family to California to work for Aerojet. Later he worked for McDonald Douglas then the Sacramento Army Depot. Married for many years to Norma Knopp during which they raised six children in Orangevale, California. Will be remembered by his "Six K's" (and spouses) including Kathleen Knopp, Karen Choate (Kirk), Kenneth Knopp (Vicki), Karyl Villa (Thomas), Kim Knopp, and Keith Knopp (Lori) as well as nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A huge note of thanks to Peter and Eunice Garbi of Garbi's Residential Care Home in Carmichael who took care of our father for the last several years of his life. Herbert loved "the great outdoors" and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to sing and had a beautiful, booming, baritone voice. He was also an accomplished violinist and shared these musical talents often at church and at home. He loved his family so much and above all else he loved his Lord. We're betting Heaven has a new choir member! A memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Chapel of the Valley, 97 Vernon Street, Roseville, CA 95678.

Herb: I was over to the Sacramento Army depot last week. Much different, trees and grass have been planted. Had a recall of our adventures with the 1976 Uncle Sam float that we built for the parade down waat ave, and the play 1976, that we travelled withy. If you know where that Uncle Sam and eagle are, let me know. arne D/Supply, and credit union board.

Dear Dad,
You endured many challenges in life and are finally at peace with the Lord. If any man does one thing well, it is in loving his family. Thank you for loving us.

Thank you Arne and Linda!
It was so nice of you to put a message in Dad's guestbook. This is such a cool online application or blog site...I guess that is what you would call it. This is the first time that I've tried this sort of thing. It was included when I bought the obituary.
Anyway, I just want to thank you so much and I appreciate your comments. Yeah, my Dad was an amazing person! Quite a guy.
With love,
Herbert's second oldest daughter,
Karen Mary (Knopp) Choate
