DUNCAN, Jacqueline
'Jackie' Gage
Age 85, passed peacefully May 31, 2012 in Sacramento, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Louis Duncan. She was a devoted wife for 51 years, and a loving mother to twins Harry and Philip of Sacramento. Born Oct. 5, 1926 in Seattle WA, she graduated from the University of Washington majoring in journalism and music. She later moved to CA to be editor of a small SoCal newspaper, eventually relocating to Sacramento to be Society Editor for the Sacramento Bee in the mid 50's. She covered human-interest stories including the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics. Her most loving accomplishment was the birth of twin boys Harry and Philip. Jackie, as her friends called her, loved music and especially opera which she enjoyed seeing and performing. She loved to cook and traveled throughout the world. She was active throughout her life doing volunteer work including being president of Junior Music Sponsors and cooking in the kitchen at The Casa. She worked with the Archdiocese of the Episcopal Church where she wrote the newsletter. The last words she spoke to her sons were 'I love you.' She is survived by her twin sons Harry Duncan and Philip Duncan and grandchildren Leanna Duncan and Spencer Duncan. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at the Chateau at River's Edge and Sutter Hospice for their love and excellent support and special thanks for those who were near and dear to her heart, to all of you we thank you for the visits, phone calls and letters over the many years you shared her life! There will be a celebration of the memory and long life of Jackie at her son's home on Sunday June 24 from 11-1. Call 916-799-7700 for info.

So sorry to hear of Jackie's passing. Both her and Louis were like grandparents to me as a child and they will be missed. She lived a wonderful and colorful life!
