John CARRILLO Obituary
CARRILLO, John
John Carrillo was born in Vacaville, CA in 1927 and died peacefully with family at his side on May 21, 2011. He led a full and happy life full of love, family and accomplishment for 84 years. Raised on a farm, he yearned to be an engineer. He realized his dream with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. His career included Mechanical Engineering jobs with the Corps of Engineers, the California Department of Architecture and the California Department of Water Resources designing mechanical systems for dams, hydroelectric power plants, buildings and desalinization plants. He ended his distinguished career as the Chief Mechanical Design Engineer for the California Department of Water Resources with a staff of over 50. He was lucky in love, marrying Flora, his sweetheart for 61 years. They married 59 years ago and raised 2 successful children of which John was very proud. Their retirement was filled with extensive worldwide travel, good health and good times. They were inseparable life partners. John loved gardening and surrounding the home with beauty. He loved the family mountain cabin and fixing things. He also was a prolific painter of colorful landscapes. John is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Flora Carrillo; daughter Jan Carrillo-LeDu (Doug), son J. Steven Carrillo (Stephanie), sister Mary Loveall of Vacaville and a large extended family of relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Maria Carrillo of Vacaville and sister Cecilia.
Family and friends are invited to two services. In Sacramento, CA on Wednesday, June 1st, a Celebration of Life will be held with a visitation from 5 to 7 and a Celebration of Life ceremony at 7 pm at George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers, 2691 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95818. In Winters, CA on Thursday, June 2nd at 11:00 AM a Memorial Service will be held at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, 301 Main Street. Burial to be held at Winters Cemetery, 415 Cemetery Dr. A reception and lunch will follow at the Winters Community Center, 201 Railroad Ave.

Dear Flora, Steve & Janet, Cindy Bogue just e-mailed me the sad news of your John's passing away. The last I heard, Flora, was that Hospice was helping, for which I was so glad. I feel so privileged to have known such a wonderful man. In my opinion, John really had his priorities in the right order. And I'm so grateful for the visits we've had in recent years, reminiscing about the past on 23rd Avenue! I wish you every strength possible to get through this very difficult time; God bless you all.

Steven, I never knew your father, but know the special gifts a father passes on to a son. I didn't know he was an M.E., but now better understand your attention to detail. I'm betting your humor and general good nature, was something you also shared with your dad. My deepest condolences and warmest thoughts go out to you and your family.
