DRIVER, John Alfred ''Al''
April 17, 1930 - October 17, 2006

John Alfred ("Al") Driver died unexpectedly on October 17, 2006, at his home, at age 76. Mr. Driver was born in Sacramento, Calif., to Charles (Jr.) and Isabel (Langenbach) Driver on April 17, 1930. His parents were natives of California.

Al was a graduate of Woodland High School, class of 1948, and he attended the University of California at Davis. A lifetime farmer, Al served on the Board of Directors of the Sutter Basin Growers Cooperative, Reclamation District 1500 and California Cooperative Rice Research Foundation. He also served as a member and past president of the Robbins Lions Club and as a member of the Woodland Joint Unified School District Board. Mr. Driver completed his military service with the United States Army serving during the Korean conflict. A well-respected member of the agricultural community in Yolo and Sutter counties, he enjoyed both sports and fishing in his leisure time. Most importantly, he was a devoted family man who loved his children, grandchildren and family gatherings.

Mr. Driver is survived by his wife of 51 years, Clare (McDermott) Driver, his sons Greg Driver and wife Tamitha of Knights Landing, William A. Driver and wife Mary Ann of Yuba City, and his daughters Karen Harper of Dublin, Texas, Carol Voznick and husband Hal of Chino, and Paula Driver Shimada and husband Jeffrey of Woodland. Surviving grandchildren are Jack, Marie and Scott Harper, Tricia, Ryan and Matthew Voznick, Elissa, Garrett, Ethan, Bryce and Cassidy Driver, Evan and McDermott Shimada and Atticus Driver. His brother Phillip E. Driver of Anchorage, Alaska, sister-in-law Mary McDermott of San Francisco and stepmother Lela Driver of Woodland also survive Mr. Driver as do numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary W. Driver.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 22, at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, beginning at 6:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Sunday evening at Kraft Bros. Chapel, with Deacon Edward Kull presiding. A mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland, on Monday, Oct. 23, at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Colm O'Kelley officiating. Clare, Greg, Tami, Garrett, Elissa and Ethan~
We are very sadden to hear about Al. Al was like another grandfather to Adam, and I know his work ethics, kindness, strength, encouragement and wisdom helped shape and direct Adam to his current Milatary Career. Ma Clare, our hearts and prayers are with you and as soon as I can speak with Adam, I will let him know of Al's passing.

May all of your wonderful memories help you with this most difficult time.
