John TRAGARZ Obituary

TRAGARZ, John S.
An extraordinary man died on an extraordinary day. John Tragarz went to heaven on 12/12/12 at the age of 53. He had cancer for 10 years, but he never let it have him. Born in Jackson, California he was a graduate of Del Campo High School ('78). He went on to own two successful businesses. He resided in the Sacramento area for 38 years. He was a dedicated father to Joshua and Shannon, devoted brother to Mary Cormier and Margie Harper, loving uncle to Liz Hewitt, Jeff Hewitt, AJ and Austin Juergens, and was the greatest friend, from beginning to end, to Mary Murray Tragarz. He had many achievements and accolades in his life, but none compared to the joy he had being a dad. A service will be held to commemorate his life on 1/12/13 at Mount Vernon Memorial Chapel on Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, at 2pm. 'There goes my hero, watch him as he goes, there goes my hero, he's ordinary.'

I have many memories of you from my childhood. I remember camping trips where you and dad always let me tag along to do the "fun" stuff. I remember swimming at your townhouse when we were little. You recorded us on your new video camera which was as big as a shoebox. I still have that video :-) I remember going rafting and having the time of my life (even if Mama made me sit on the bottom of the raft).

My childhood would not have been the same without those (plus many more) memories. You were a loving, fun and adventurous guy and this world lost something special when it lost you.

I've always thought of Johnny to be like Charles Bronson. He was gruff, tough as hardened nails and spirited.

I was fortunate to know him over the decades. I knew his soft caring and loving inside. He had a huge heart. I miss my friend and brother.
