Joseph Taillefer Obituary

TAILLEFER, JOSEPH M.
Son of Ethel M. Taillefer (nee Batten), born July 4th 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, went home March 23rd, 2003; leaving his wife, daughter, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was a loving, intelligent, courageous and patriotic man who devoted much of his life to protecting and defending those that were unable to do so, and serving as a mentor to many others. Joseph served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, the 65th Halbert, in Europe during WWII. After the war he went on to graduate from U.C. Berkeley, and earned his law degree at McGeorge College of Law in Sacramento under the tutelage of Gordon Schaber. During the many years that he maintained a private practice he was sworn in before the Supreme Court in 1965, and later spent about 15 years working for the County Counsel's office and working on a pro bono basis, before retiring in 1985 as a Deputy County Counsel. He was an avid traveler, philatelist, and bibliophile, and was a student of history, language, architecture and the arts. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday and Thursday from 4-8 PM, and to attend a funeral service on Friday, March 28, 2003, at 10:00 AM, all at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento. There will be a graveside service immediately following, as well as a gathering afterward.
