WELSH, Kara Leigh
On Saturday, January 4th, 2014, we lost our dear and beautiful Kara at the age of 51. Her unconditional love and devotion to her family and friends will always be remembered. She had a 'give all' spirit that will be deeply missed by all that had the opportunity of knowing her. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Glenn, daughters Sarena Button (Ben) and Shelby Welsh. She adored her grandchildren Benjamin and Spencer Button. Also survived by her parents SharRee Rose (Wes) & Tom Michaelson (Wendy), broth- ers Grant Michaelson (Carrie) and Gregory Michaelson. She leaves behind a large extended family and countless loving friends. Kara worked as a hairstylist throughout the Sacramento Elk Grove area. She was known for her style, generosity, and thoughtfulness. Kara loved shopping, gardening, knitting, and enjoyed movies. Rarely would you find Kara without her sidekick and constant companion, her beloved dog California. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the SPCA. I just learned of Kara's passing and I am so sorry and sad to hear this. She truly was a loving and kind person. Kara introduced me to the birth mother of my daughter. If it were not for Kara, I would not have met the birth mom of my daugher and ultimately a Mom myself. I am forever grateful to Kara. My heart goes out to her family. I hope you continue to hear about the kindness and love your Mom, wife, grandmother, daughter . . . gave so willingly to others. Rest in peace sweet Kara.

I am absolutely heartbroken at the news of Kara's passing. She has been my friend and hairstylist for over 20 years. In addition to being an incredibly talented hairstylist, she has been my confidant through many difficult times in my life. Even when she was having struggles of her own, she was always cheerful and happy to see me. Recently, I showed up for my appointment on the wrong day and there was no one at the salon. I called her, and she happily came right down to do my hair and save me an extra trip from Lincoln. My last appointment was on New Year's Eve. It ended as all the others with a hug, and "I love you. See you in 6 weeks." In a recent text message she said "I'm here 4 u anytime, not just as ur hairdresser. I luv ya!"

I'm going to miss you Kara. I'm so sorry for the difficulties that you have had. I will never be able to replace you as a hairdresser OR a friend.

RIP sweet angel.
Love, Pam

Dear family and friends,
I am saddened beyond words to hear of your loss. I have many happy and fun memories of Kara but my thoughts continue to include the love she shared for her family and devotion to them.
Her passion to embrace life to the fullest is an example to live by. I wish words could heal the loss that is felt but know that time and memories is what brings peace and extends Kara's life beyond today.
Know that you are all in my thoughts.
Wish I was with you all.

Kara had an energy that just drew you to her. She was by far the most fun person to know. She could make a mean breakfast! Always smiling, and laughing. She touched my life. You're missed Kara. Thanks for being a good friend to me while I lived im California.

When I first met you I was 14 years old and thought you were so beautiful and gracious I wanted to grow up and be like you. You inspired me. As I grew older and spent more time with you, you became family to me. Thank you for being a special person in my life and you will be missed so much. You are a shining star in the sky. Words cannot express how broken hearted I am! I have lost not only a friend but a mentor, and you always treated me like a big sister. Over the past 16 1/2 years you have tought me, looked after me and treated my son like he was your own nephew. My heart has a void that came with your passing.
I cherish the memories that I had with you. I will miss our phone calls that always began with "hi sweetie" and always ended with "I love you"! Thank you for being who you were and all that you gave me. I love you Kara! Heaven just got one of the most beautiful person inside and out! Until we see each other again I will say goodbye for now!

Sweet Kara, words can not express how my heart aches to learn of your passing. Over the past 17 years, we shared all of the ups and downs of our girls, our marriages, our dogs and life in general. As soon as I was in the salon chair, it was as though we didn't miss a beat. In the early days, you would share your pics and stories of your great trips and adventures and as of late it was your garage sale finds and your succulent garden. You would always update me on the girls, grandkids, Glen and your mom. Most of the time because I came in the evening California was with you:)

I think of the time that I met you at Chameleon on Laguna Blvd - my hair was a mess and I was in tears looking for someone to fix it. The gal at the desk introduced you to me as "The Queen of Color". Wow was she right, you could fix any hair mess. Most particularly, the night before I was flying to Vegas I turned my hair Lucille Ball Red and called your cell phone and you told me wear a baseball cap and meet at the beauty supply on Calvine. When I left my husband said, no one can fix that. I replied, if anyone can, Kara can! I came home with a fabulous blonde hairdo. To quote you, "Playboy Bunny Hair" that was whipped up in your kitchen sink. You always worked your magic.

I could go on and on, about fun and great memories. But most notable dear friend was your generosity, you were one of the most real and generous people I have ever met in my life.

You had such a zest for life and a twinkle in your eye. When I left the salon on the afternoon of the December 31st, and we did our typical hug, "Love you girl" and see you in 6 weeks...Little did I know that would be the last here on Earth.

I know Heaven's shining brighter because you are there. Until we meet again, "I love you girl"! And will miss you like crazy!

P.S. I'm so glad I have my scarves that you knitted. They make me think of you:)
