I was looking up Kurt my old friend on line when I saw the news of his death. My family and I used to be close to Amber and Kurt. I never met Denise or their child. I wish the very best for Denise and Amber. I am deeply saddened

I am so saddened to hear of Kurt's passing. He photographed our wedding in 2008; I remember the reason I wanted him to capture this day was his sensitivity, tenderness and passion as a person. I knew from the first phone call with him that his ability to connect would make him a great addition to the intimacy of the day for us and I was right. My thoughts are with Denise and the kids.

We just read this about Kurt. He photographed our wedding back in '02. He was a great guy and we feel that we are so lucky to have met him. Even though we did not talk to him regularly we was always considered a friend. Your family is in our prayers.

I am so surprised to hear about Kurt's death. I was a student with him at Sac City college in the 1980s, and admired his creativity and style back then. I always thought he was a sensitive and astute visual artist, and I envied him for that. He showed me how connecting with people when shooting portraits was so much more important than technique.

Ackerman friends and family-my heart breaks for you. My intuition spoke to me this morning and I googled Kurt to see his photography, only to be saddened by the news of his passing. In March, 1988, we laughed about him being my first sponsor. I thank him for my 22 years of sobriety. Please know that he will be missed. Blessings to you all.

Denise, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I'm sorry I missed the wake and funeral as I truly wanted to attend. Kurt will be sadly missed. He was a very talented photographer/turned musician who loved his family very much. I will miss his smiling face as he saw thousands of smiling faces from the photos he took from the eye of his camera. Take care and if you need anything, you know how to reach me. Julie Morris

Dear Denise, Gianna, Amber Rose, and new baby on the way...My brother was so lucky to have you all. He was so happy to have found the love of his life, and I am so grateful that although your time together was short, you all helped him to realize that fulfillment. I love you all, and will, as I said at the wake, be the best Aunt and Sister -in-Law I can, and will keep us close. Many prayers will continue to come your way, and envelope you like a warm hug.

Denise, I learned today that Kurt had passed away. Kurt had been a great friend to me for many years when I first moved to California. He was a kind, loving, spirited, crazy, and creative. He was one of the people who helped me through my own troubles, and I'm I know that there are many people in the Bay Area whose lives he touched, and who will miss him terribly. Denise, my prayers and sympathy go out to you and all of Kurt's family.

Denise, my most heartfelt condolences to you, Amber, Giana and baby. I was so shocked when Jamie called to tell me the news. Kurt was so special to me for so many reasons. He was there on the lawn at McKinley Park when I came into the program 21 years ago. He was there to introduce me to manhood when I was ready to grow up. He, Jamie and I had one of the best road trips to the International Convention in San Diego in '95. He was there to take our wonderful engagement pictures and ultimately our wedding photos. Energy and Passion are the words I think of when I think of Kurt. He had both for life, music, photography but mostly for his family and you. He helped me to understand that the obstacles in front of us are never greater than the power behind us. God Bless you always.

Denise and family:
I am so very sorry for your (and my) loss. It is unbelievable, and surreal. Kurt was a good and spiritual man, and I believe his spirit will remain with us always. It will be found in the morning sunlight, the rains which fall on our fields, the winds at our back, and the smile on little G's face. I believe that Kurt's spirit, with all of God's glory, surrounds us. You have our deepest condolences.

The last conversation I had with Kurt was a couple of weeks ago at the funeral of another friend. We were lamenting the passing of time, the preciousness of life, and the mystery of not knowing how long we are going to be here. I never dreamed it would be his fair well that I would be making next. Nothing can prepare us for such a sudden departure.
I will always remember the twinkle that Kurt had in his eye when he talked about his family, his recovery, and the life that he was LIVING !
My prayers are with you and the kids, Denise.

There is no doubt Kurt's passion in life was his "Baby G", Amber Rose and his wife, Denise. There was nothing more important to him than being a "Dad". We are all so blessed to have known such a creative, loving person with such an excitement for life and an example of true devotion to his family and friends. He will be missed but remembered forever.
Denise, my thoughts and prayers are with you and may God give you the strenghth during this difficult time. Know that you are not alone.
With love,
~Irma

Denise,
When I met Kurt, before you moved up to Sacramento, I was immediately struck by how very special he was. He made a very lasting impression on me. He was so warm, kind, excited about you, creative, funny and welcoming. I so enjoyed talking with him. I can't believe he has gone home so soon. My heart is with you in this pain, loss and shock. My prayers are with you, Gianna, all your family and will go to help his soul on its way of perfection. God is strongly supporting and loving you this very moment, and all the moments ahead. You are never alone.
Much love,
Frances

Though we did not talk often over the years in recovery, when ever I saw him, either at a meeting or some place around town, it was as though no time had passed and we picked our conversation right up about music, recovery, his photography, his family, etc. He would get so excited talking about music or whatever was going on in his life - and he always had the greatest smile, and wonderful energy. I am shocked and saddened at the news of his passing. I send my prayers and thoughts to his family and friends. Peace. Melonnee Desiree Pagano
