Lee Sutter Obituary

Lee Sutter, Sr., was called home to eternal rest on May 18, 2017. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on October 16, 1941. Lee was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He was a longtime member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church where he lent a joyful voice to the choir and served on the church council. Lee followed in his father's footsteps and was an active member of the Free & Accepted Masons and served as Worshipful Master several times. He was also the recipient of the Hiram Award which was given in recognition of his years of service to the Masonic Order. Lee served on the board of Sierra Sunrise Sr. Apartments and spent many Saturday mornings enjoying coffee and doughnuts with his friends. Most of all, Lee was proud of his family, especially his five children. He is survived by his brother, Paul Sutter, his daughters, Karie Sutter, Kristin Shumaker, Kelly Dankbar, Kim Perry, his son, Bobby Sutter, and 7 grandchildren. He will be remembered for his buckwheat pancakes, popcorn, and playful antics at family gatherings. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1:00pm at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 4706 Arden Way, Carmichael, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gethsemane Lutheran Church.

Bringing back fine memories of Lee from Junior High, High School, College, Job's Daughters/DeMolay. A truly good person.

I just learned about Lee's passing. We were camping in Northern California during the months of May and June so I didn't see his obituary in the paper. I will always have fond memories of Lee of the times we shared as congregants and choir members when I was a member at Gethsemane. My mother, Arlyne Smith, also thought highly of him, thus it was our honor to have Lee sing at her funeral in 2004. Lee had a great voice, beautiful smile and boisterous laugh--he was a nice guy and will be missed.

Lee was an especially upbeat person who radiated friendliness and kindness. I was honored to play the piano for one of his installations as Worshipful Master, which he told me was his connection to our shared love of Job's Daughters. "Soft and safe to thee, my Brother, be thy resting place!" Until we meet again, Lee.

I am sure that Lee is in the heavenly choir singing "Sit Down, John, Sit Down!"
