Lorraine Warren Obituary

WARREN, Lorraine

Age 82, died during open heart surgery at Mercy General in Sacramento on May 17, 2007. Lorraine was born in Chicago in 1924 and moved to Hawaii soon after.

She was 16 and at school when Pearl Harbor was attacked, stating that she could see the face of a Japanese pilot while running for safety. She lived in Hawaii until she married Richard Kern in 1943. Had a son, Richard, in 1945, then moved to California. Had 2 daughters, Marilyn and Nancy. After the death of her husband, she married Henry Warren (Bud), and soon after moved to Folsom in 1958.

Our mother was happiest in her yard, where she spent many hours; she had a beautiful yard and garden. When asked by her doctor how she felt doing housework, her reply was "what house work, I work in the yard." Even while she was not feeling well due to her heart, she was out in her yard. She loved her volunteer work at Mercy Folsom and made many friends while there, especially Sister Maura.

Preceding her in death were her son Richard; grandsons Phillip Atkinson and Shane Robbins. She leaves her 2 daughters, Marilyn Guinn and Nancy Wachtler; son-in- law Tom Wachtler; her 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; her sister Jackie of Folsom, Jerry and Anne of Hawaii; nephew Joe and Richard, and special ex-daughter- in-law Patty Thiry. Also leaves her 4 cats who were like children to her.

Mother loved animals and fed all the strays (or not) on her street. Most of all she loved to garden. Mother really thought she would be coming home as a "new woman" and would be able to work in her yard all day without getting tired. She is now in the garden of heaven and probably already doing yard work. We would like to thank the staff at Mercy General for their exceptional kindness. The nurses were beyond wonderful. We would like to especially thank Dr. Morris for trying to save our mother and his very sincere kindness and compassion. We will miss you mother, but know you are with your son and our sons, and beloved husband Bud. We love and will miss you beyond words.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on May 24, 2007 at Miller Funeral Home, Folsom, CA (916) 985-2295.

Our condolences to the family in the recent passing of their mother. We just found out about the passing of your mother and grandmother during our recent visit to Calif. We were the neighbors who lived across the alley ( we have since moved to Virginia) and she always came to the fence to say hi to our dog. My wife and were always impressed how her back yard look and dreamed that's how ours should look, but never did. May she rest in peace in the hands of our lord.

My condolences to the family, especially Marilyn and Nancy whom I have known for years. Nancy being my best friend for 30 something years. Lorraine did some great things in her life, but the girls have got to be her greatest accomplishment. She is missed so much and loved so much, but this she knows. I have got to give Nancy and Marilyn notice for taking care of the unexpected death of their mother beautifully. Yes, your right, I cannot think of much to say, which is unlike me!
Much love
