Maria Lozano Obituary

Maria De Jesus "Mary" Lozano

May 13, 1940 - July 14, 2024

Citrus Heights, California - Mary was born on May 13, 1940 in Bakersfield, CA to Jesus and Maria Lozano. In the early hours of July 14, 2024 she peacefully entered into eternal rest. She is predeceased by her parents and twin siblings, Helena and Pablo; sisters Helen Trejo (Trini), Adeline, Antonia Jaime (Gene) and brother Paul (Chonie). She is survived by her sisters Juanita, Teresa Sundstrom (Sid), and numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her easy going spirit and how fiercely she loved and cared for them.

Mary attended elementary school in Bakersfield. Her childhood was filled with the love and laughter of all her siblings and numerous cousins. At the age of 15, her family made the move from Bakersfield to Sacramento in search of better opportunities. She attended Bishop Armstrong High School, graduating in 1959. After high school, Mary began working at Breuners Home Furnishings in Sacramento. She left Breuners after many years to work for Pacific Bell in 1979. Mary retired in 2001 with 22 years of service.

Mary lived her life devoted to her catholic faith, her family and friends. Through the years, she enjoyed trips to many far away places with her sisters, but nothing compared to the joy she felt when she was surrounded by those she loved. We will miss your abundant love, Mary, may you rest easy.

Services will be on July 25th at Holy Family Church, 7817 Old Auburn Road, Citrus Heights, CA. Rosary service to begin10am with a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. A reception to immediately follow. Inurnment will be scheduled for a later date. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mary. Mary and I met online on Facebook and Ancestry after I discovered we were 2nd cousins. We communicated often and she always "looked after me" asking how I and my family were doing. I will cherish the memories.

I am so sad for our family, Mary was special to each one of us, in a different way. I miss her so much.

Some of my earliest memories are of my Lozano cousins who were more like older sisters and aunts. "Little Mary" and all the other "girls," as my father called them, have been in my life all my life. She was loved and will be sorely missed by me and all the members of the family. May the angels lead her in to Paradise and welcome her home.
