Mark Park Obituary

Sadly, Mark "Dusty" David Park is now among the stars he was so passionate about. Dusty passed away suddenly on 01/23/2026 from complications due to a stroke on 01/15/2026. His dear friend Joie Favier, his brother Rick and sister-in-law Liza, and his sister Beth were with him when he died peacefully at Summit Hospital in Oakland. He was 68.

Dusty was born in Des Moines, IA, on 05/23/1957 to Shiela Stieglitz Montez. After she divorced, Shiela married Lieutenant Richard D. Park, who then adopted Dusty and became his father. The family of 3 moved to Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, TX . After many moves around the US, and the births of siblings Rick, Jim, Beth and John, the family ultimately settled in Carmichael, California.

Dusty lived and worked mainly in Northern CA developing astrology-focused and other computer programs. He was a master astrologer, charting horoscopes for his grateful friends and clients that gave them insight into their lives.

Dusty's many friends will remember him as being kind and thoughtful, smart and inventive, and maybe even a bit stubborn. Endlessly creative, he was in the process of developing a unique 3-D astrological chart app when he died.

In addition to Rick, Liza, and Beth, Dusty is survived by his father Major (ret.) Richard D Park of Elk Grove, CA, brother James P Park of Sacramento, CA, and brother John H Park of Northern CA. Dusty's mother, Shiela L Park, preceded him in passing in January 2020.

Family and friends are invited to remember Dusty by attending an open house at Rick's home at 1817 Clinton Ave, Alameda, CA on Sunday February 22, 2026 from 12-3 PM. Please RSVP by Friday, February 20, 2026 to [email protected]

My heart felt condolences to the Park family and his dear friend Joie.
Dusty tracked me down in 2017 and we stayed in contact over the years. I lived in Oakland and he would knock on my door for an afternoon visit many times when he was in town. Every January Dusty would call to wish me a happy birthday. Most times he was calling from
Bali. I missed his call this year. I will miss the unannounced visits and the planned visits. He was a dear friend from my early high school years.

You´ll be missed by many Dusty.
