Mark REESE Obituary

REESE, Mark Elliot
Born Aug. 2, 1955
Passed away Jan. 30, 2011
Mark was an avid outdoorsman. He canoed the roughest waters of the Salmon and Snake Rivers, loved to hike, camp, fish, do gold panning, cooking over an open fire and anything physically challenging. At Cordova High School, he lettered in tennis and wrestling. He achieved the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America. Mark is survived by his father Bob and stepmother Doris Reese; mother Janet Garland and stepfather Eldon; his children, Desiree, Shawna, Ryan, Sarah, and his loving companion Barbara Hotopp. He is also remembered fondly by his younger sisters, Jennifer May, Nancy Blankenfeld, Annette Green, Carolyn Barnes and many friends and family. At his request, there will be no services.

Rest in Peace

Today I remembered that time when we were 21 and we drove to Reno and did some gambling and that big snow storm hit and they wouldn't let us by the chain checkpoint at Donner cause I didn't have chains. When we were turning around one of those gamblers buses pulled up to the checkpoint and I made a quick turn-a-round and snuck past the checkpoint. You were in the back of the Vega wagon bouncing up and down to give us added traction. We made it up and over Donner summit without chains in a near blizzard by the skin of our teeth but made it none the less. We rolled into Rancho at daybreak. A long night that we laughed about for years. So many memories.

Thinking about you today.

From the food poisoning and bee stings of Boy Scout trips, to swiping pears as we walked through Clifton Orchard to the river, to the stern looks from the stuffed shirts at church. The times when you were at the stern of your old canvas canoe with me at the bow. We floated the American and cut across alpine mountain lakes. Keep an eye on us old friend you know all our secrets. I'm sure your floating a mirrored calm lake were the rising trout hit with every cast. It hurts so bad to lose a friend like you .

Mark, only knew you as a roommate back
in 1973 in Rancho Cordova. But absolutely Mike Duncan gets it right when he says of you that you were the one who made things more fun. I wish I had reconnected with you earlier than now old friend. G-d bless RIP

We shared the same stomping grounds in our early years...Our paths split ways but memories remain. Until we meet again.

I will always remember your incredible good nature. You are the most "lovable" person I ever knew. Thank you for so many wonderful memories.
I especially like the one where you called on a Saturday morning. Natalie and I were sleeping in. I answered the phone and didn't recognize your voice and you asked for Natalie, I handed it to her and rolled over and went back to sleep. When she got the phone you said it was for me, she handed me back the phone and rolled over and went back to sleep. This continued several more times till I hollered, Is that you Pilgrim?"
You always had a way about you that made everything more fun. I can't imagine a world without your great smile.
I love you. Will miss you horribly.
