I was a long time friend. I met Mel in the Air Force in 1968 in Port Hueneme Ca. tech school construction equipment operator school. A after we graduated, we were assigned to Oxnard AFB. After I got out of the AF I went back to. Indiana. I visited Mel several times from there until I moved here in 1984. Mel was my best friend! I miss him very much.

This is a picture of our group waiting in line at the casino buffet. We did this almost every Wednesday for over 10 years.

We are so, so saddened to hear of Mel´s passing. We became friends with him about 15 years ago when we all stood in line early at the casino´s buffet. Sounds funny but we had an hour wait every Wednesday so we all got to be friends and ate together too. We would love to attend his memorial. Our heart and prayers go out to his family with this huge loss! Russ and Cindy Walters
