Michael Hetherington Obituary

HETHERINGTON, Michael
Passed away in his home on December 12, 2005 after a lengthy battle with cancer; he was 45 years of age. Mike will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He was a dedicated family man, a very hard worker, who so appreciated all that his employer, Bouey Pest Control did for him - thanks guys! Mike will be remembered as a good natured, generous and humorous man, someone you just couldn't help but like. His interests included his work, family, pets, country music, reading, movies and hunting. Mike served three 1/2 years in the Army and was proud to be an American. Michael's passing will leave a big hole in our hearts that will be filled with the sweet remembrance of having been touched and affected by his presence, smile, sense of humor and goodness - all the things that enriched every person he ever touched. He is survived by his grandmother, Harriet; mother, Sharon; fiancee, Patricia; daughter, Neena; siblings, Caroline, Debbie, Janice, Linda and Michelle; nieces and nephews, Cathy, Brandi, Justin, Alaina, Tiffany, Michelle, Tomi, Davi and Randi; and many more loving family members and friends. The visitation is 2:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18 followed by the funeral service of remembrance, 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2005 both services being held at the Lind Brothers Mortuary, 4221 Manzanita Avenue, Carmichael, (916) 482-8080. A procession will follow to his final resting place at Sylvan Cemetery, Citrus Heights, where full military honors will be presented.

Brother

I thought of you all day today...I went with mom to your house to give her my wish list of things that I wanted to buy....mom showed me your clothes and I ended up with 3 big bags..justin will be able to wear alot of your things...the only thing I wanted was your duster I will wear it all the time and that thought brings me closer to you...I bought a few of your tools I hope you dont mind...you taught me a few things about "doing things yourself"...I remember when you taught me how to sheetrock we worked hard on that site to get that side job done (smiles)....I have your work overalls and will wear them when I am painting or working outside....picked out a few of your shirts...some sleeves were still rolled up from the last time you wore them...that made me cry...

Big brother just wanted you to know again that you are in our thoughts daily...I know you can hear me talk to you and that you are there watching over us

Hello Brother

Its Christmas evening and we spent the day at Michelle's house....it was a quiet christmas without you...I think we were all afraid to talk about you...afraid we would lose it...it took me 40 minutes to get to Michelles and I cried all the way....its just not the same and everyone knew it...in fact Philip mentioned that the holidays for him would not be the same without both of you giving me a hard time...yeah I would give anything to hear your voice again

Janice, Linda and I spent christmas eve getting a tattoo in your honor...yes it hurt! but its a beautiful reminder of you and that you will never be forgotten...I put some pictures here in your book so everyone could see how handsome they turned out...I remembered how embarassed you were about losing your hair and you didnt want to take your hat off...no one cared they just wanted you there

We are thinking of you daily and I just wanted you to know how much your are loved and missed

My Brother,

I saw you this last Monday in God's arms resting so peacfully. I heard only a few of the wonderful things about you that enriched and touched not only the lives of family members but also everyone you came in touch with. We met for the first time about six months ago, and after hearing the things that I did, I regret not knowing you sooner but also cherish the fact that we did get to meet, talk and most importantly "drink a beer together".

When Debra asked me to help carry you to your final resting place, I was so honored, I cried! Yeah, your brother cried, (don't tell anyone). I told Janice that I bought a pair of Red Converse and wanted to wear them to honor you with, and wanted to get her opinion on it. She said that it was "classic" and would ask your Mom. Your Mom said "why not Mikee's wearing his", so I wore them. I figured you would be looking down smiling. There is so much I would like to say, but I feel as though I'm rambling so I will write later.

Dearest Mike~~

I'm proud the same blood ran in our veins. The tremendous outpouring of love from your friends and especially your family, shows the legacy within your soul, that carried you to Heaven.

I know family members were there to greet you that you never knew in this life, but their arms were open and they greeted you with great pride and enormous love.

Your family here on Earth will miss you greatly and will carry their deep love for you forever. Their broken hearts will mend knowing you are free of pain and disease and wrapped in the arms of our Lord. Your mom, sisters and little brother will experience great peace knowing you will always be hovering over them, and be there with them when they need big brother's guidance and an extra amount of love and protection.

Rest in Peace and Love, dear Mikee, rest in Peace and Love.

Auntie Sharon

Brother,

Today we laid you to rest and gave you to God

You would have loved the services...everything you asked for Bagpipes, Military Honors....your friends and family were there to tell you goodbye...your daughter received your military honors flag....your family asked Shawn to do your eulogy and he was honored....your little brother came and wore red hightops just for you...yeah we know your smiling...Janice wrote some fun stories about you and the minister shared them with us...Jim, Philip, Justin, Steven, Shawn, Dave, Dave and Tom all carried you and helped lay you to rest...they were honored to do this for you

Its only been a week and I miss you already...but I know there is no more pain, hospitals and pills...

I am no longer afraid because I know you'll be there to greet me when it's my time...I love you
