Carlos RIP I just found out. You were one of the most dedicated labor workers I have had the pleasure to work with. Local 22 was your heart and soul and trying to keep it stable and prospering was one of your missions. I never met your family but you talked very warm of them. God bless Phillip Bobb

¡¡Feliz Cumpleaños Stubbo!! Couldn't let the day go by without wishing you a Happy Birthday!! Lupita used the pix of you showing off the ball you caught in your beer cup at the A's game for your
'Birthday in Memoriam' in today's paper.... always did love that pix!! I know you are watching over us so you already know this but just had to tell you anyway..... Lupita is now retired and we had Lita's Baby Shower this past Sunday. I could feel your presence there and after five boys, you know it's a Girl!! Of course, you have the BEST seat in the house and are watching over all of us...and I can feel your presence everytime I go to your house....My Giants finally clenched their division but what's up with the 49ers?!@# I can hear you yelling at them just like you used to do at home....they are 0-4 but hoping they can turn it around since we are just about mid season!! I'll write again when the baby comes!! Until then, Descanse en Paz ...con mucho cariño,tu hermana y cuñada, Elena

Hi Stubbo,
It is hard to believe that it has now been two years since you left us and yet it seems like only yesterday. Not a day goes by that we do not think of you and we all miss you terribly. Our hearts are broken and the tears still flow because no matter what, we miss you. Yes, it comforts us to know you are at peace and no longer suffering but I know I would give anything to have you back again if only for a few minutes. I know you are now in a better place and we are the ones left suffering living in this Hell here on Earth....Rest in Peace Stubbo and until we meet again.....con mucho cariño, tu hermana y cuñada, Elena

Hi Stubbo,
It is hard to believe it has already been a year since you left us. Where has the time gone? And yet, this has been one of the longest and saddest years of my life. I know your at peace and in a better place but it is so hard each time I enter your house and your not there. I miss your smile, seeing you asleep on the couch, yelling at the TV during the Kings and 49er games, and all the great boxing matches we watched together con nuestra familia. I have come to cherish the many memories I have of you and one of my favorites was with you and Compa Eli at the Memorial Auditorium...it was the Bobby Chacon vs Bazooka Limon fight....I will always remember that fight as the greatest fight I ever saw and what a comeback Bobby Chacon made!!!
Like I said, I miss your smile each time I walk into your house. You always had the warmest smile and I swear, your smile could light up an entire room!! Lupita has your pix on her altar with a veladora and it is a great pix...with you smiling that smile of yours!!! That pix has consoled me so many times and I have also cried so many tears looking at your pix.
As a Father, I know you are so proud of Miguel, Teresa and Lita because they are truly your legacy....every action they take and decision they make, reflects everything that you and Lupita instilled in them as they were growing up. Family Values. Familia being the most important, but their faith and Catholic upbringing has helped them weather the many storms they have endured. And it has come full circle because they are now honoring you and Lupita by teaching their children the exact same things...and I am sure it will go on for generations and generations to come....
And Lupita, what can I say? She is truly the most incredible Woman I have ever met...she is the rock and strength of our familia and I know her heart is broken because she lost you, her soulmate. I know that God has wrapped his loving arms around her and has comforted her so many times and continues to comfort her and all of us in our pain.
I know you are not here physically, but your spirit is because I have felt your presence many, many times and I find that so comforting. However, we have had to have so many first events without you...Miguel and Teresa's Birthdays, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentino's Baptismal, Miguelito's Birthday, no more of those killer BBQ's, Lupita's Birthday, Valentino's First Birthday, your Wedding Anniversary, your Birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Sammy's Birthday, Luciano's Birthday, Aztlani's Birthday, Lita's Birthday, Marissa's Quince and Juan's Birthday....just to name a few. Watching the Kings play without you is just not the same...football season is not the same thing either...even though I know you now have the best seat in the house, let's hope the 49ers will play better ball next season!!!
I know you are now watching over all of us smiling that big ol'smile of yours and we are smiling back thru our tears.
Your death had affected me like no other. You have always been such a profound presence in my life. Not only were you Lupita's Husband, and Father to her children, you were my Brother-in-Law. And thru the years, you became my brother...no more of that 'in law' stuff...you were my Hermano. No matter what, you were always there...you were there when I lost my Nana, my Father and my Mother....you were always there...next to Lupita, I could always count on you being there and now your gone....
I have really struggled with your passing, as we all have. Our lives will never be the same again and yet I Thank God every day for the time we did have with you. I know we had our days when things could get ugly between us but I could never stay mad at you because you were my Brother and I loved you so much.
In this past year, many others have joined you. Most recently, your Compadre Val. I know that you are all reunited and I whispered to Cheryal at his rosary that Val was now reunited with his brother, Buffo, and his Compadre Stubbo..and then I added, can you imagine? She chuckled and said "I know!"
I pray for you all the time and I have probably never prayed so much in my life. I pray that God Bless all of you that have now passed on with eternal rest because it is well deserved. You had so many health problems and suffered so much that God called you home and now you are whole again...no more pain or suffering and knowing that really does comfort me....Say Hi to everyone you are now reunited with and rest assured that no matter how much time goes by, we will NEVER forget you...
Descanse en Paz Stubbo and until we meet again.....tu hermana, Elena

**Dirty Jeans and Soiled Tees**
Dirty jeans and soiled tees that's what I see standing tall looking over me.
So big, so strong, a gentle giant with those dirty jeans and soiled tees.
Hard at work you'd spend the day to earn your pay for your family. Long hours and little pay, will it be enough you'd say.
You were a man with dirty jeans and soild tees, there no hand outs given out to these.
You fought for what you deserved, on picket lines you stood and bargaining tables you'd say " we are men with dirty jeans and soiled tees but better wages and medical is what we need for our families". You earned everything you had for you were an honest man.
You loved your wife, your son and your baby girls but it was your
grandchildren that illuminated your spirit.
Your big arms wrapped around me was the safest place I could ever be.
How blessed I have been to have you in my life.
For that man with dirty jeans and soiled tees was my Daddy!
Not rich, not envious, nor selfish or greedy. But selfless, generous, kind, warm and giving.
As my first teacher you have taught me so much but the greatest learned is that with dirty jeans and soiled tees or black suits and neck ties
FAITH is all you need.
Thank you Dad for loving me. You are my idol and my mentor but let me tell you a secret.....my HERO wore dirty jeans and soiled tees.
To my Father Stubbo
You will always be my hero.
Love your
Litakins

Mi Querida Familia,
I am so sorry for your loss...I have made so many attempts to sign this guest book and each time had to quit because I could not find the right words and the tears would not stop...even now I struggle...it is hard to believe Stubbo is gone.... but may you find comfort knowing he is at peace and no longer suffering. He is whole again....no more Diabetes and he is walking, running and dancing around in Heaven, playing his guitar, and snapping his fingers to the music, like only he can.
I feel so privileged to have had a front row seat in your lives....what started as a simple friendship blossomed into a beautiful love story, producing three incredible children, Miguel, Teresa y Lita. You and Carlos led by example and taught your children real family values. You should both be very proud because now, your children are your legacy. Carlos lives on in them in everything they do and we all know how proud he was of them. They now have their own babies and are teaching them what you taught them...and your legacy will be passed on for generations to come....
Lupita, the love you and Carlos shared is truly one of a kind...as the song's say "Amor Eterno" says it all and it is so true que solamente "La Mano de Dios" podra separarlos...
At times, I am sure Stubbo probably thought I was more of a suegra to him than a sister-in-law, but no matter our differences, I loved him dearly. Our fiestas will not be the same without him and no one will ever BBQ the way Stubbo can...but he will always be with us in spirit and he will be watching over all of you as he is now your special Guardian Angel....
My thoughts and prayers are always with you and I love you all very much. Please know that I will always be there for you, any day, any time, any where....with deepest sympathy y mucho carino...tu hermana Nena y tu Tia

Lupe y familia - Carlos will be greatly missed by all of his friends and collegues at the Labor Commissioners Office. He was always quick to help and over the years gave his undivided attention to the hundreds of men & women who would come to the office looking for assistance and help in resolving their hardships in the workplace. He was proud to display the artwork of the RCAF in his office that he had collected over the years and which were in clear view of the many employees & employers that he would meet on a daily basis to confer the grievances before him. We will miss the lively discussions we had during football season in who was better, his beloved 49'ers or the Raiders and just taking the time to talk about life in general. Carlos was never one to complain and his infectious smile had a calming affect that would say "Don't worry." We will all miss him, Vaya con Dios mi Hermano.
