Neal Dailey Obituary

DAILEY, Neal Roscoe
Born on Dec. 1, 1911, in Albany, OR, he died at age 94 on February 12, 2006, in Sacramento, CA. Funeral services on Friday, Feb. 17, at 11:30 AM at Oakmont Memorial Park, Redwood Chapel, on Reliez Valley Road at Grayson Rd., Lafayette, CA. Preceded in death by mother and father Bertha Alice and Frank Roscoe Dailey, brother Arthur, sisters Blanche Russell, Myrtle Lee, and Grace Dailey, and son Kenneth Neal Dailey. Survived by wife Florence Iva Dailey, daughter Dianne McCluer, brother-in-law Glen Griggs, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Neal and Florence celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Oct. 16. Neal joined the Methodist Church at age 10 and was a member for 85 years. Neal loved camping, spending time at the beach, rebuilding old cars, and was a life member of the horseless carriage club. Neal graduated from Oakdale High School in 1932. He worked as a shipfitter foreman in the Richmond shipyards during WWII. He delivered the Stockton Record on a motor paper carrier route for 50 miles everyday, rain, shine or valley fog for 10 years. He worked for 15 years as an insurance adjuster in Walnut Creek. Other jobs included being owner/manager of Redwood Motel in Ukiah, parts dept. manager of the Ford Garage in Half Moon Bay, Laser component technician for Spectra Physics in Palo Alto, CA. He lived the last 30 years in Montara, CA, before moving to Sacramento in 2001. Memorial gifts may be given to the charity of your choice or to Heifer Project, c/o Half Moon Bay Community Methodist Church, 777 Mira Monte St., Half Moon Bay, CA 94019.
