Carmichael, California - Paul H Ledwith, Jr., age 87, died peacefully on the morning of December 24, 2022, with his daughter Linda at his side.
Paul was born in South San Francisco on July 17, 1935, son of Paul and Elva (Edwards) Ledwith. He graduated from Burlingame High School, San Mateo Junior College, and the University of Arizona. He served in the Army during the Korean War (1958-1960). He married the great love of his life, Joyce Nelson, on June 22, 1963.
Paul proudly worked at Aerojet in Public Relations during the time of the Apollo space missions. He later worked for the State of California in the Health and Human Services department, ran his own public relations firm and finished his career working for Commerce Printing and then The Sacramento Bee. Paul and Joyce traveled throughout the world in their wonderful retirement years.
He was an enthusiastic and fun dad to his three children and a very proud Gramps. Paul is survived by his children Cindy (Philip) Cody, Linda (John) Wilhelmy, and Randall Ledwith, and his grandchildren Gunnar and Whitney Wilhelmy and Ryan and Abby Cody. He was also survived by his brother Kenneth Ledwith, sisters Peggy Ledwith (recently deceased), Elva (Richard) Hoogner, and Beverly Ledwith, numerous nieces and nephews and their families as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Joyce.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 14 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sacramento. Paul was a childhood polio survivor and his rehabilitation included swimming; he became a letterwinner at the U of A and a proud Wildcat for life, eagerly "sporting his colors" on Fridays. His family encourages attendees to sport their colors in his honor - whether that be an Alma Mater or a favorite team.
