I was saddened to hear of Dr. Laurendeau's passing. He was the picture of health when I saw him earlier this year. He had been my dentist for 30+ years and like many have said, he also treated my daughter. He was warm, kind and very patient. We would often laugh when he had to work on my back teeth - he wouldn't need to go to the gym that day because he would get his workout trying to fit everything into my small mouth! As a result of his fine skills as a dentist, I no longer suffer from painful headaches due to TMJ. He had such a sensitive bedside manner and would gently encourage me to keep up with the flossing! I will keep it up Doc! Please rest in peace, you will be missed!

Dr. Laurendeau will be missed. He was a great, sensitive and caring dentist. Thank you for being my dentist. My condolence to your family and friends. It was a pleasure knowing him. V.Lubeck, Gold River, CA

I just found out today that Peter had passed. I echo the previous comments about his professionalism, character, and kindness. His smile was a mile wide and always accompanied his warm but firm handshakes. He usually asked about my flight simulation hobby and weekly volleyball games. I would ask about his rollerblading and gym workouts. Peter and I were the same age. I started with him in 1994 after my wife, Ruth, died. He was her dentist. She often bragged about how good and fast he worked, but with a great chair-side manner also. About then the USAF quit providing retired dental care for me so Peter immediately came to mind. He more than lived up to his reputation!!

I was stunned and deeply saddened when I heard that Peter had died. Peter had been my dentist since 1974 and I always kidded with him that he could not retire until after I was long gone. He was so professional and caring; he will be greatly missed. We shared many stories about our kids. Our hearts go out to Chad and Cameron.

I was absolutely stunned to receive the letter from Peter's office stating he had died. Of course all I could do was cry. I will miss our conversations about the books we were currently reading, sharing tidbits of information about each of our sons, I will miss his baby blue eyes looking at me and his wonderful smile. Yes, Peter was my dentist for 20+ years and I will miss him. My prayers to Peter's family.

I'm speechless. I first met Peter 5 yrs ago when I worked at the gym. He was so sweet & always greeted me with a beautiful smile. I left my job & never did I think I would hear from him again. This world is so small, 3 yrs later I was looking for dentist, I came to his office & to my surprise it was my friend, Peter. After that I never wanted to be seen by anyone else. You were so kindhearted & I am so thankful to have met you. May you rest in peace.

May 18, 2011

Peter has been our dentist for 35 years. His passing was shocking and is very sad to us. He was the best Dr. we ever had and we were pleased to call him a friend. We will miss him very much.

It was a bittersweet reunion with family, cousins and friends and my Cousin Pete's services. Now, after all is done, the full impact of his passing is sinking in. I will miss everything about my "Cuz" but especially those times when he and I would just hang out together and laugh about the craziest things. My wife and sons, who could not accompany me, send their heartfelt sympathies to Chad, Cameron and all who were lucky enough to know Pete.
I take great comfort in all the beautiful sentiments for my Cousin expressed by so many at the Service and here in this Guestbook . We all should be so lucky as to have a fraction of these words said about us when our time is done. What a Cousin, what a man, what an example! We love you Cuz

The sight of Cameron, the grandson I share with Peter, proudly sitting in the big orange chair waiting for Grampa Peter to look at his teeth, is forever etched in my memory! He was only 2 or 3 then, and he so loved those visits to Peter's office as did his mother, my daughter Jennifer, for all those years when she was just a kid taking treatment, yes, without novocain. Looking back to the late 70's, I was so thankful to have found a GREAT dentist who helped me overcome my lifelong fear of going to the dentist. Remembering the happy times, it was with deep sadness to see you, Chad and Cameron, walking behind the pallbearers carrying Peter one last time into his place of worship. Please know my heart continues to cry with you.

Peter was the loving and generous Grandfather to my nephew, Cameron, and wonderful former Father in law to my sister, Jennifer. He was a good friend to my family, always respectful, friendly and kind...and had such a gift for making people feel special. I admired Peter for his loving personality and am grateful for the experience of knowing him.

I will miss Dr. Laurendeau greatly. I was recently in his office, and I am surprised that Dr. Laurendeau passed away. He was always working out, and we talked about fitness every time I came to the office. Also, I would frequently see Dr. Laurendeau at the gym.
I have seen Dr. Laurendeau since I was a young twelve year old. My family also saw Dr. Laurendeau for care. I am currently visiting family in Colorado so I received the news from a family member. I wished I could have attended the memorial service.
With care and warm thoughts to his family.

Sometime after I had moved to Sacramento some 20 years ago, I was at the Haggin Oaks driving range hacking away. The fellow next to me asked me about my golf bag, which was really nothing special. But it turned out that this man was something very special. Peter and I spent the next several years hanging out together, bicycling, rollerblading, skiing, golfing, going to single's events. And, of course, (me) sitting in the patient's chair at his office. After I met Carolyn and was busy with my new family, I sadly found less time to spend with Peter. But as his patient, thank goodness, the friendship never ended.
His leaving us so suddenly was shocking. To Peter's family: Please accept my heartfelt condolences. We will all miss this kind, thoughtful, caring, compassionate man.

Peter was our dentist for 30+ years, and I have a hard time imagining going to a new dentist. I will miss his smile and his beautiful blue eyes. He was so kind, gentle and thoughtful. I was not an easy dental patient and he and the staff always took extra care with me, even having a special blanket ready for me to make me more comfortable. I always thought of it as my personal blanket! I can't believe he is gone. We wish his family comfort knowing that he was a really great guy and beloved by so many.

I was shocked and so saddened to read of Peter's death. I worked in his office many years ago and always thought of him as the most caring and gentle man. I remember Chad coming in for visits as a young boy and what a devoted father Peter was. I loved his laugh and beautiful smile and he was just a joy to be around. My heart goes out to Chad and his entire family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Dr. Laurendeau's family. We have lost a very special man. My parents went to high school with Pete and have been his patients since he became a dentist. I've been his patient for 38 years and was now bringing my children to see him.

We will miss you, Dr. L! I know you are with your parents now, smiling down on all of us. Rest in peace.

Hey Pete,

Reading all these nice things people are saying about you tell me that you did ok, Pete! Nice job.

You were the real McCoy, no b.s.about you. Kinda like I imagined your father to be though I only met him a few times. Nice job to him too (and of course to your mom).

Yours is a life we can really celebrate at this time, recognizing the good you have brought to all those around you. I'm going to miss you.

Take care, and save a place up there for me.

I was stunned and very saddened to hear about Dr. Laurendeau. He has been my dentist for almost 10 years. He was highly recommended to me after having several horrible dentist experiences and he saved my teeth and smile. He was the very best dentist, very kind, thoughtful, and caring. He had such patience, especially with his shots - they never hurt! He always showed a genuine interest in my life and my family.

My last visit with Dr.Laurendeau was just two weeks ago when I had a crown put in. I told him the fit felt snug and was it supposed to feel that way and he replied "I want it to feel like that be ause I don't want you to forget me" we laughed and I replied "don't worry, I have lots of work to do".

I wish his family peace and comfort during this time and please know that Dr. Laurendeau will be greatly missed by everyone that had the privilege to know him.

I am so very saddened to hear of Peter Laurendeau's passing. I first began seeing him when I was in my early 20s, and now I am 61! It is so hard to think that he is no longer with us. I am so greatful that he became my dentist. I married, and our children became his patients. We so appreciated his excellent and professional care. He always gave the least painless novocaine shots! But more than that, he was a great friend to me, and we shared many changes in our lives over so many years. I will miss him very, very much.

May 12, 2011

When I began seeing Dr. Laurendeau as a young girl, I did not know the impact he would have on my life. Peter's chair-side manner and dentistry skills were impeccable, but he also applied Excellence in his personal life.

My first semester in college, his staff asked me if I'd be willing to "show his son around" Sacramento since he was in town and didn't know anyone. That matchmaking changed my life when I fell in love with Chad. A year later, we had Cameron. Peter was the best GrandDad to Cameron! Cameron loved visiting Peter at the office as a boy, and Peter always spent time playing and teaching him about Life. When Cam went off to college, Peter continued the lessons, telling Cameron how important it is to "stay focused on the goal".

I respected Peter so much and will miss the love and devotion he showed my son. He took care of his family. He was a Good Man.

It was a life well-lived, Peter. Thank you for all the kindnesses you have shown me over the years and thank you for giving my son the gift of your Life Modeling and Love.

Peace be with you,
Jennie

I will never forget the joy of picking out a toy from the treasure chest in Dr. Laurendaeu's office...and I've loved going to the dentist ever since! But more than that, you were supportive to your patients in so many ways - like your sponsorship to participate in my first international basketball tournament at age 16. It was because of that trip that I've become the travel aficionado I am now at age 32! You'll never know how many ways you touched our lives, but I know your pearly whites are smiling down on us from heaven...just as they were when we were sitting in your office chair. -(Second generation patient)
