I am so sorry to read of his passing only today (3-16-16). I purchased a giclee in 11/2006 "Cliff Walk", a Big Sur scene. I was updating my files tonight and am probably the last to know of his death and write to the Guest Book. He was the best pastel artist I ever met and a humble and gracious man. I thought his "Crescendo" piece was magnificent and was waiting to hear about the availability of its giclee version in Nov 2006. Never heard back, but what a great piece. I eventually moved to the Monterey Peninsula well out of the Auburn area (was near Yosemite at the time). My sympathy to the family, but his legacy of many great paintings will always be a reminder of this fine artist we knew.

Reif's portrayals of Mono Lake were right on! So beautiful, so inspiring. I met Reif several times, and was impressed by his kindness and generosity and beauty of spirit each time. He is missed. His art lives on!

I just learned of Reif's passing and am so saddened. He had a gift which he shared with me in pastel class a few years back. I deeply admired his work. My heart goes out to all those who loved Reif.
