Dear Rick,

I'll certainly miss receiving your big bear hugs, and a kiss on my cheek, whenever the family would get together for a birthday, or holiday celebration. I'll miss your corny jokes, too!

One thing that certainly gives me comfort in knowing, is the fact you're finally reunited with your one and only true love, Pearl! It must have been a joyous reunion when Pearl met you up in Heaven.

Please give Pearl, along with my parents a big hug from me, okay. Your love ones miss you very much.

I miss Uncle Rick so much. I guess I called him Uncle because of my Dad, but him and Aunt Pearl were the best Grandparents I have and will ever know. They never made me feel like a Great-Niece, I was always treated like a Granddaughter. I'll never forget the way he would hug me and give me a kiss on the cheek, or how he would tease me. He showed me so much love. I always thought it was funny when he would make his "Sweet" and "Sour" tatoos dance! That cracked me up. Everytime I saw Uncle Rick he would make me laugh. He had such a wonderful spirit. I will always be greatful to Uncle Rick and Aunt Pearl. I will do everything I possibly can to make sure my daughter knows who they were and how much they meant to me. And the love they showed me throughout their lives will be passed on for generations to come.
I miss you Uncle Rick.

I miss his voice. The last time I saw him in the hospital he was not coherent and couldn't talk. Before that when I would get to missing him I could always call him and he would cheer me up. I miss his smile. It was infectuous. I miss his laugh. Sometimes we would get to laughing so hard I thought he might have another heart attack. When someone would say that I looked like him, and was I his son I would beam with pride. He may be gone but his spirit lives on in those of us who knew him so well. May us kids take what we learned from him and Aunt Pearl and pass them along to the next generation. Family was everything to them and let's keep that alive! I love all of you!

Dave brought me into the Venable family over 30 years ago so I have several memories of my dear Father-in-law. One of my favorites is when we were on our annual family camping trip to Jackson Meadows and Dad took 3 year old Scott for a walk to "water a tree". There was just enough light from the fire to watch the two of them walk away from camp. We could hear the sound of crunching leaves as they walked further into the darkness. Then, all of a sudden we could hear Dad's voice in the distance ..."shake the dew off your lily boy..." We knew Dad and his grandson found the perfect tree to water. They walked back with Grandpa holding Scott's hand making sure not to let him go.

Dad, thank you for giving me so many precious memories and loving your grandchildren so, making them all feel like they were "number one". I'll love you and miss you always.

I will always have wonderful memories of Uncle Rick and Aunt Pearl. I remember when my parents and them would get together often to play card games while we kids would be together to play and watch movies. And the numerous camping trips we made together leave just as many wonderful memories. I drew on all these fond memories often after my parents passed on. They comforted me during difficult times. Uncle Rick and Aunt Pearl will forever have a special place in my heart. But now I have comfort knowing Uncle Rick and Aunt Pearl are together again back with my parents doing things they enjoyed. I find comfort in knowing the time will come that I will be with them again throughout eternity.

I will forever miss my Uncle Rick. He has always been such an important person in my life. I have always looked up to him and Aunt Pearl. They never judged and made everyone feel so welcoming. I admire that and hope that I can carry that on to teach my girls. I will miss his jokes and twisted sense of humor. I will miss going to his house often and him spoiling my girls rotten. Regardless of what I would say, they would get candy, ice cream of whatever it may be, prior to eating there dinner! He would sneak them stuff while I wasn't looking and my girls thought that was the best. After my dad passed, he picked up the "papa" role with my girls. Jordyn said one day after leaving his house that since Papa Moody passed, could Uncle Rick be her "papa". He did pick up that role, unfortunately it was only for a short time, however it made a huge impact on myself, my husband, and most importantly Jordyn, Kylie, and Madison. They all talk about him daily and I will make sure I forever keep his memory alive, along with Aunt Pearl. They will always know Uncle Rick through stories and pictures. I thank my family for sharing him with us. I will miss him forever and there will always be a void in my heart. What does put a smile on my face each day is knowing that he is in heaven dancing with the love of his life.

To All the Venable Clan,
Our heartfelt sympathy at the passing of your Rick. He wouldn't have known me but I knew him as a little guy that used to go out to Capitol, Hughes, and Roseville, where my Dad told me he knew Rick, so that made him one of my favorites. I remember him driving the Dick Waring # 111... but it really doesn't matter what car he drove because he was a hero to me. Later, as I grew up in Elverta and Rio Linda I became friends with Steve, and we got along great.
May God comfort you through your loss,

To Our Family,

Words cannot begin to express the sorrow we feel at this time. We loved Uncle Rick so much. I cannot even fathom him being gone. He was such a giving, loving, wonderful part of our lives. Your Mom and Dad have to be the greatest people that I have ever had the priviledge to know and to love. I thought that my heart would break when we lost Aunt Pearl and I truly think that it has now that we have lost Uncle Rick. Know how very much we love you all and that we are grieving with you. Rish and I are so sorry that we couldn't be with you as you said good-bye to him, but please know that we wanted to be there. We love you. Hold fast to your memories of him, I know that that is what is getting us through these dark, dark days. I thank you for sharing your parents with us. Uncle Rick was the best Dad anyone could have and I'm so thankful that Alan had him in his life. I'm so thankful that he was in my life and the lives of my children and my grandchildren. He was and always will be in our hearts. You all are in our thoughts and in our prayers.

We Love you,
Pam

Grandpa~
You welcomed me into your family with open arms followed by a huge kiss on the cheek. I'll never forget your big bear hugs and one of a kind smile. It's so hard to say that you'll be missed, because that is such an understatement, but you will be so deeply missed. Love you!

I will always remember going to the race tracks when we were really young and watching Uncle Rick race. He was quite the racer. He was quite the character; always teasing us, but always there for us. I love you Uncle Rick and will miss you deeply. You will forever be in my heart.
