I just read of Bob's passing in the Beloit College Magazine. Aside from being a wonderful teacher, he was a faculty member I greatly admired as a person, looked to for guidance, a smile, and positive energy.
His stories of his time in the Peace Corps (especially playing with future MLD players, and building the playground) are still with me.
For me Bob was the epitome of the liberal arts ethos, giving of his time, and knowing that developing students was not just teaching them Spanish.
Not many faculty will share a beer and talk to a 21 year old on their level.
Cheers to you Roberto!

Bob was my Spanish professor. He took a group of us to Granada in 1984. It was a very special experience and he made it extra special because of his patience and kindness and sharing of his knowledge. So sorry to hear of his passing. My 22 year old daughter shares his birthday which I love!
