Robert MOORE Obituary
MOORE, Robert Lorenze
Born on September 2, 1914, in Lodi, Calif., to Robert Lake Moore and Jessie Cook Moore, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully at Courtyard Terrace, a memory community, on October 29, 2009, at age 95.
Bob is survived by one sister, Barbara Schwartz of Sacramento. Robert was a devoted husband of 67 years to Irene Hillman Moore, who preceded him in death. He was a loving father to children Carolyn Moore Carr, Bob Moore III, and wife Mikel, Cathy Moore Schumacher and husband Carl, and Stephen Moore and wife Gloria; and loving grandfather to Susan and husband Rob Lustig of Lompoc, Calif., Karen and husband Ron White of Elizabeth, Colo., Amanda Moore of Bullhead City, Ariz., Robyn DeLisi, Moorea and husband Curtis Richardson, Matthew and wife Jen Schumacher, Nicholas Moore, and Lee and husband Andrew Hegji. Bob was proud being a great-grandfather to Kyle Lustig, Cole, Tegan and Dane White, Josiah, Daniel, Erik, and Jacob Richardson, Ryann DeLisi and Lily Espinoza. Preceding Robert in death were his two brothers, David and Richard, two of his three sisters, Virginia Rivett and Kay Nielsen, and grandson Kyle Schumacher.
Bob earned his Eagle Scout Badge at 16, graduated from Sacramento High, studied Entomology at U.C. Davis, then worked with his father ''Spray'' Moore and family at The Orchard Supply Company, where he became its president. During WWII he led efforts to increase agricultural productivity for the war, and continued that for the rest of his business life. He was well known and respected by the many farmers up and down the Central Valley. He led the successful combining of the International Active Club and the 20-30 Clubs after the War. He was a 52-year member of Rotary Club of Sacramento, President of KVIE board, Chairman of the local Red Cross, and an Elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
He was devoted to his wife, his children and grandchildren and their friends. They had an open door policy for food and transportation and swimming in their huge backyard pool. Bob relaxed by panning for gold in the Sierras, fishing, camping, hiking, tending his Nevada City property, and playing bridge with life-long friends. He and Irene went on many trips, including a 1982 visit to China when it first opened up. He always maintained that Sacramento was the perfect place in which to live, raise a family, have a business, travel from and come home to.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 1300 N Street. Come and help us share ''Bob Moore'' stories. Memorials may be sent to Wesminster or to your favorite charity.
