Sacramento, California - Robert "Bob" Tardif passed away in his Sacramento home on October 1, 2021, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Galina, sons Ted and Alex, first wife, Barbara (mother of Ted), daughter-in-law, Sandy, grandson, Logan and younger sister, Sylvia.
Bob was born to Rose and Sylvio Tardif on September 8, 1936, in Northfield, Vermont before the family moved to Bristol, Connecticut.
Bob's attended the United States Military Academy (West Point) from 1956-1958 before studying at Central Connecticut State. He had a passion for education and lifelong learning and was always studying language(s). Bob spoke Spanish and German fluently, and he was continuing to study French and Italian.
His long career in education began in Newton (MA), where he taught elementary school for several years prior to moving to California to teach math and science at San Carlos High School. Bob earned his master's degree in Education at San Jose State ('66), prior to pursuing a PhD in Public Policy and Education at UC Berkeley. Bob started working at the CA Dept of Education (CDE) in 1974 as a Education Program Assistant. In 1980, he became a Consultant in Math Education, before becoming an Education Program Consultant in 1987. Robert retired from the CDE in September 2001.
Bob always lived life to the fullest and looked for any chance to enjoy good conversation over a good beer or glass of wine. He was proud of being a long-time home brewer and was quick to share with local craft brewers that he'd been brewing since the 1979. Bob remained very active until his passing, playing pickle ball and riding his e-bike regularly.
