Russell WEBBER Obituary

WEBBER, Russell ''Russ'' William
Jan. 8, 1959 to Aug. 30, 2010

Hon-Knee, Dad, Son, Brother,
Grandpa Poppy, and Friend
.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Russ passed away on August 30, 2010, peacefully at home with his wife by his side. The tragic event came only months after starting treatment for brain cancer, glioblastoma multiforme IV. He is survived by his wife, Tina; his daughter, Shannon Webber (Teena); his stepchildren, John Henrichsen (Wendy), Jeremy Henrichsen (Shelly), Jennifer Radan; his father Robert Webber (Linda); his brother Roland Webber (Virginia); and his grandchildren, Logan, Nathan, Noah, Jocelyn, and Desiree. He is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Mae West; uncle Richard Webber; grandparents, Russell and Kathleen Webber and James and Zella West; and in-laws, Marguerite Chadwick and Robert Ryan.

Born on January 8, 1959 in Sacramento, California, Russ attended Sacramento area schools, graduating from Elk Grove High in 1977. An early interest in auto mechanics soon led him into his own business, Specialized 4 Wheel Drive, which he ran for 18 years before becoming semi-retired and working as a truck driver in Sacramento and Fallon, Nevada.

Russ' real passion was racing. He was an avid member of the drag racing communities at Sacramento Raceway, Infineon Raceway, and Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, where he raced his beloved 1966 Dodge Coronet. He was a good soul who helped many friends out with his mechanical skills over the years. He also loved good food and his burnt baby back ribs were a favorite at many outdoor feasts. Russell was a great man who will be terribly missed by all his family and friends who loved him dearly.

The family requests you honor Russ' memory by wearing your favorite race car shirts and think about the joy of motor racing. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sacramento Raceway, Infineon Raceway, and Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, Nevada. A service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park, 43rd and Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA, on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 10am. Family and friends are invited, and encouraged to bring any special mementos such as pictures, shirts, or special Russ memories they would wish to be placed with Russ. In honor of Russ we have also created a website where you can share your special memories at http://human-writes.net/russ.

A pot-luck reception, following the service at 11:30am, will be held at Kobasics Hall, 5324 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento, CA. Please bring meats, salads, veggies, desserts or anything else that Russ would have liked. Drinks will be provided.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

A fond memory I have is when my sister Christina and I were young girls and we would visit our cousins Russell and Roland we would force them to play house. They were good natured about it but you knew they could not wait for us to leave. Russ, I know as adults we lost touch but I never forgot you. I will miss you, say hi to grandma and grandpa. Love Dianna
