Sharon SIMMONS Obituary
SIMMONS, Sharon
Unexpectedly passed away the morning of April 15, 2011 in Sacramento at the young age of 43. She is survived by her three children, Rhiannon, Gabrielle and Jackson, her fiance Craig Duehring, and his children Kyle and Mitchell, her father, Doug Meeks (Vicki), siblings Sheryl Ochoa (Bennie), Rick Loudon (Lee), Remick Loudon & Rhena Bowler (Mike), numerous nephews and nieces and two great nephews. Preceded in death by her mother, Bertha.
Sharon was a devoted mother to her children and a loving wife to be to her fiance. Her favorite place to visit was the ocean where she was planning to live in her retirement years. Sharon worked for the State of California for 24 years and most recently as the manager over the contracts and procurement services section for the Air Resources Board. She was very dedicated to her job as she continued to work her way into upper levels of management. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and coworkers.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 P.M. both at River Cities Funeral Chapel, 910 Soule St., West Sacramento. Donations in Sharons memory can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

I just learned that you passed away, I was so taken back and the memories that flooded my mind. I left the ARB a little over 3 years ago and last week I was catching up with old friends when I found out. Thank you Sharon for all of the laughs, all of the advice and all of the love that you shared with me. It was with great pleasure knowing you and sharing in your daily conversations. You showed me what a wonderfully warm beautiful person you were. I will never forget the advice you gave me about having my highheels trimmed down so I wouldnt be so tall. I admired the way you carried yourself, so much grace. You had a special softness about you but then you also had a vigorous drive about yourself and the way you handled business. The loss of you will forever be missed but the memories will always be with me. God bless your beautiful family and your darling fiance whom I met when we drove the first electric car (tester) together with him a few years ago. May God always watch over your children and your love always be on them.

Dear Sharon's Family and Craig Duehring,
Sharon was the nicest and sweetest person that I've ever met. We worked at Dept. of General Services for many years and dealt with Food Acquisitions issues together. My condolences to Sharon's family and to Craig. She was always smiling and I liked that about her. We will miss her tremendously.

We are so deeply saddened by the passing of Sharon. We were lucky enough to be neighbors with her and her family, and always found Sharon to be such a lovely, kind, and wonderful person. We haven't seen Sharon in her adulthood, but vividly remember her hanging out at our house with Jaime & Erin and friends. She is in some of the first day of school pictures-- all dressed up for a new beginning! Always crisp and pretty besides sweet and respectful. The kind of girl you want your kids to be friends with! I have had the upmost pleasure in knowing Sharon for the better part of my life. We met in Jr. High school and remained friends ever since. I remember playing air band in my living room to the Ramones and all the other goofy things we used to do. As well as her being a maid of honor in my wedding. I will cherish all those memories.
I am honored to have known her mom and many other of her family members. Rhi, Gabby & Jack, Auntie Deb will always be here for you whenever you need me. Sharon, I love you and miss you so much but I know you are watching over me and my family and that helps knowing that. We will meet again.

I had the great pleasure of working for Sharon for a little over a year and always enjoyed seeing her beautiful smile every day. She was the best boss a person could ever ask for and always had an open door policy. I am truly saddened by her loss and my heart goes out to her family. It is hard to put into words how much it hurts to lose a loved one and at such a young age. The lives she touched will be fuller,because she was in them. Dear Doug and Sheryl, I was so shocked and sorry to hear about Sharon. As kids I always remembered her being so sweet and soft-spoken (while we all ran around like maniacs). It was no surprise to read that she remained that same sweet person into adulthood.

I would like to express to Sharon’s family how deeply sorry I am. Sharon was a dear friend to me and I will really miss her. She was sweet, caring, smart, funny and very strong willed. We only met Sharon briefly over the past several years when visiting family in California however, it was long enough to realize how special she was and the happiness she brought into Craig's life. Carol and I will miss the visits to Maine Sharon and Craig had talked about and lost opportunities to know her as a sister-in-law.
