Silvio Trombetta Obituary

TROMBETTA, Silvio ''Trom''
Passed away peacefully at his home in Rome, Italy, on July 2, 2009. Trom started his career in the machinery business as an Export Field Representative for Caterpillar in North Africa, then as owner and general manager of a CAT dealership in Monrovia, Liberia. In the late '70s he invested in the Deere dealership in Louisiana. Norwel eventually represented Deere throughout the state of Louisiana. In 1980 Trom purchased the Deere dealership in Northern California, which eventually totaled nine stores. He settled in Rome, Italy, where he was President of the CAT dealership for southern Italy. He is probably unique in having owned and managed simultaneously both CAT and Deere businesses, demonstrating loyalty and commitment to both companies and contributing to the the success of CAT and Deere on two sides of the Atlantic. He is survived by his wife Hannelore Trombetta, daughters Diane Trombetta, Hester Rode and Angelika Rode, granddaughters Loren Reynolds, Liza Reynolds-Landis, Alexandra Amari and Giulia de Curtis, great-granddaughters Rowan Landis and Mia Amari, and brothers Joe and Tom Trombetta. In lieu of flowers please contribute to Cabrillo College Foundation for the Margo Trombetta Memorial Scholarship ( [email protected]) and/or Doctors Without Borders for their work in West Africa ( [email protected]).
