Stephen Ellis Groff

Stephen Ellis Groff, the beloved adopted son of Philip and Harriett Groff, passed away on November 4. A graduate of Hiram Johnson High School, Stephen served in the U.S. Army and worked for many years for the State of California at the Youth Authority and Department of Architecture. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his long-time partner, Gary Hayes. He is survived by his brother, David Groff, nieces, Rebecca McClain (Logan), and Julia Traylor (Philip), grand-nephews, Hans and Max McClain, and grand-niece, Emma Traylor, all of Portland, Oregon. A memorial service will take place at 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, at Harry Nauman and Son, 4041 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento.
