Stephen McGIRR Obituary

McGIRR, Stephen William
Steve lost his battle to brain cancer on June 17, 2012 at the age of 43. Steve graduated from Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa and Sacramento State College. He loved the outdoors; especially fishing, camping, rugby and golf. He was always a true friend, never knew a stranger and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Steve is survived by his wife Cindy and their beautiful daughters, Jordan and Peyton. He is also survived by his parents Steve and Pat McGirr; brother Michael McGirr, nephew Tristan, niece Isabella; and in-laws David and Karen Alexander. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14 at Lakeside Church, 745 Oak Avenue Parkway in Folsom, CA. Service will begin at 10:30 am and reception immediately following at the Block (next to church). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the children via the McGirr Family Fund, 2795 E Bidwell Street, Suite 100-380, Folsom, CA 95630.

From SW Penna, just want you to know that you are so very close in heart and prayer from far away, Cindy. Though we have never met, I remember seeing your beautiful face and your Steve's radiant smile when I attended a soccer game at the Sports Complex in Folsom a few months ago. My sweet granddaughter Sydney was playing, as was your sweet girl. When I think of my beautiful Tracey & Chris' Syd and Shay, I just especially lift up your Jordan and Peyton. Isaiah 61 resounds in my heart, as you look toward Steve's celebration service tomorrow.....the Spirit of our Sovereign God is upon you...and on Steve's parents and family. Love in Christ, and I am so very sorry for your loss, dear one.

To Cindy, Jordan and Peyton. Know that your husband and daddy is just on the other side, not far, very close... it's just the other side, that is surrounded by pure love and white light. Like a huge big white puffy pillow that surrounds his soul with nothing but pure love and healing. I'm truly sorry you have lost Steve. He was a warm kind soul, and still is. He's just on the other side... not far. Please remember to take a moment to feel his love, when he taps you on the shoulder gently. Trust that it is him. Then smile, and continue your journey of the day. All the best, your neighbors, John, Steph, Johnny and Josh.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I did not know Steve but this touched me. I lost an son a few years ago and I remember feeling so emptyand wondering why. There was a friend who signed his guest book that told me that without Gabriel living, he would never have known heaven. I hope that brings I some sort of comfort. I know it did for me. I will be praying for you Cindy and you're beautiful girls, his parents and all the people that loved him. He seemed to bring joy to so many. I am so sorry for your loss.
