Susan Tsurumaki Morris Obituary

Susan Tsurumaki Morris

January 18, 1958 - September 15, 2023

Sacramento, California - On the morning of Friday, September 15th, 2023, the beautiful Susan Tsurumaki Morris passed away at the young age of 65 in Sacramento, California, surrounded in a bubble of love by her husband, daughter, son and son-in-law. Susan's sudden passing was preceded by a few weeks of suffering from a complex diagnosis of endometrial cancer. While these final moments were painful and devastating, we cannot allow them to define the eternal memory of Susan. Rather, it's of preeminent importance to Susan's family that her memory is colored by the striking brightness of her spirit and the positive pureness she brought to everyone she touched. Known for her signature gorgeous smile and sparkling energy, Susan, also known as Sue, was born a beach babe on the island of Oahu in Hawaii at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu on the clear sunny Saturday morning of January 18th, 1958. Every year, Sue would look forward to the sun shining down on her birthday. No matter the year, the sun always found a way of coming out for this bright-eyed soul's special day. As a military brat, Sue had the privilege of living across the globe from Hawaii to Japan, to the East and West Coasts of the United States, all before the age of 18. She was both a Song Girl and the first Japanese Homecoming Queen as a Junior at Del Mar High School in San Jose, then went on to attend college at Sacramento State University. A true stunner, it's of no surprise that Sue was highly sought after; though it wasn't until a serendipitous night in November of 1981 that Sue's real life love story began when she met Don, the love of her life, while managing Sacramento's infamous Hungry Tiger Restaurant. The two went on to marry in 1987 and welcomed a baby girl in 1988 and a son in 1994. Fiercely dedicated to all of her endeavors, Sue led a devout retail career with Macy's in Downtown Sacramento spanning multiple decades up until her passing, in addition to spearheading the charge of team mom for both of her children's schools, sports teams and friend groups. She found great joy in artfully organizing events, helping those in need, deeply loving animals and giving the most thoughtful cards and gifts to her loved ones. Her unparalleled style and effervescent beauty and grace will never be forgotten. Sue is survived by her husband, Don, daughter, Caiti, son, Christopher, parents, Kiyoshi and Irene, and brother, Michael. Sue has been reunited with her beloved older brother, Dennis, who passed in 2002.

Susan Tsurumaki Morris' Celebration of Life will take place at William Land Park's Amphitheater on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at 12pm. Please join the family in packing a picnic lunch to follow in front of the WPA Rock Garden.

I cannot say enough wonderful words about Sue and all the joy that she brought into everyone´s lives. She was selfless and was always willing to help others in any circumstance. I was fortunate enough to bond with her through work and our love of our Japanese culture. She often talked about her time in Hawaii, her parents, but most of all her children. To Caiti and Chris, I am beyond sorry for your loss. You were both her pride and joy; in every conversation we had she would talk about how much you´ve accomplished and how proud she was of the both of you. I will miss her dearly, her bright smile, her amazing sense of style, but most of all...her friendship.

Sue was the kindest person you would ever want to know. When you need her to help with a problem at work she always showed up with a big smile and left with a smile. She just had a beautiful soul. She will be greatly missed.

I can´t barely write this , as my tears keep falling , and my heart Lego´s on breaking by the loss of my dear friend Sue .
Sue , was not just my coworker , but one of my best friends , my confidant and my buddy .
If you didn´t know Sue , I´ll tell you she was a ray of sunshine and she brighten the day of everyone she met . Sue was the sweetest , most honest and loyal friend you could ever wish for .
I was blessed to be her friend .
" my sweet friend , I will so miss our talks , coffee breaks together , and your contagious laugh . I will miss your wisdom , and advice . I can hear myself calling you on the work communicator "SUSAN MORRIS , where you are at" because I just needed to see your sweet smile , and of course , summon you to our daily Starbucks walk lol .
I don´t know how I´ll be able to navigate being at work , so close to your office but so far from my friend .
I couldn´t help being a little upset with you , as we made a pact , we either stay at Macys together , or we would leave together lol and you did not help your side of the bargain , but I understand , God needed a beautiful angel up in heaven , and of course , what better choice than your beautiful soul .
As I told you that day in the hospital , as I was holding your little hand . " I´m NOT saying goodbye my sweet friend , but just , see you in a little while "
You will never day Sue , because you will forever live in the hearts of those you have left behind .
Fly, fly high with the angels friend. They´re so lucky to have you up there . And heaven .... Get ready to get a move on , because she´s going to get all of you roller skates up there .... For efficiency and speed lol
I love you so much my friend , and I will miss you more than words can express . My heart and all my prayers are with your amazing family , who I´m so very grateful for .
I´ll see you in a little while my sweet Sue
