Professor Tahmoores Sarraf, beloved husband, devoted father and dedicated educator died peacefully in his California home on Saturday, May 26, 2007. Tahmoores will be best remembered for his love of and devotion to his wife of forty years, Shirley. Together, the couple created a loving immediate family and extended family of friends and colleagues. Their interactions were always colored by his love of laughter, enjoyment of good company, good food, and his passion for heated discussion. Tahmoores and Shirley always had home open to all: full of life, love, food and kindness. Tahmoores is survived by his wife, Shirley and their daughters Kiana Sarraf and Kemia Sarraf. Additionally, he is survived by Kemia's husband Jeffrey Goldstein, and his two beloved grandsons: Joseph (6) and Jacob (3). Those of you who knew him well understand that Tahmoores' life cannot be easily summarized. Great teachers send ripples which impact multiple generations; so do great humanitarians. Tahmoores was both. The lives he influenced through his teaching and philanthropy are innumerable and the results immeasurable. He was immensely gratified to know that his influence upon the many students he taught, and the many he helped rear, would echo through the countless lives his students will one day impact. Tahmoores was a man generous of spirit, great of mind and kind of heart. Undoubtedly, there are many lives touched by his kindness and generosity who will never know from whence it came. His presence in this life will be deeply missed, and he will always be loved. Please, in lieu of flowers, contributions in Tahmoores' memory should be made to the Sarraf-Duncan Scholarship at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho or to any organization you choose. His wife, children and grandchildren thank you for contributing to his life and for continuing to positively impact future generations.
