Tom Doris Obituary

August 13, 1942-September 2, 2017 Tom E. Doris lived his life with a big heart and generous nature. He will be sorely missed by his longtime companion Wanda Brown, loving son Mark, brothers Ronald, Michael, Steve , sister Pattie, daughter-in-law Julie and his 3 loving grandchildren, Hannah, Brooke and Chase. Tom will always be remembered as a great father and friend to many. Fatherhood was more than being just a coach, supporter or best friend, but spending time with his son instilling values that will be bridged from generation to generation. The sport of golf served not only as a game and profession for Tom but a lifestyle that "carved" who he was as an individual. A gentleman, competitor, (still retains Bing Maloney G.C course record, score 62) and one who presented himself in a professional manner. Tom was proud of the many individuals who he provided their first job and loved seeing them mature into adults and achieve both personal and professional success. The game of golf defined who Tom was and how he lived his life. Saying goodbye was incredibly difficult for Tom, but rest assured it's going to be more difficult for family, friends and loved ones. SALT OF THE EARTH, AN AURA OF MYSTERY & LIGHT WITHIN & WITHOUT THE BING MALONEY FACILITY. MY FOND MEMORIES OF THE PRO IN FRONT OF THE DESK BEHIND THE PICTURE WINDOW INSIDE THE CLUBHOUSE ARE TRULY VIVID TO THIS DAY. IT COMES TO ME THAT DURING HIGH SCHOOL @ MCCLATCHY IN 1970, HE PERSONNIFIED GRACE, DIGNITY & STYLE. I RECALL SEEING HIM HIT A GOLF SHOT TO THE GREEN @ 18 THAT HAD PROFESSIONAL INGRAINED IN THE ENTIRE SWING, THROUGH & THROUGH. THE IMPECCABLE DEMEANOR HE EMBODIED WAS SOMETHING I KNOW I RESPECTED, ADMIRED & DREAMED ABOUT HAVING AS A MEMBER OF THE VARSITY TEAM.
I'M A DIEHARD BELIEVER. MAY GOD BLESS THE MAN & ALL WHO LOVED HIM.

Tom gave me my first job at Bing Maloney at the age of 17. He was a very kind man who always found time for everyone. During winter rainy days he sitting in his famous shop barber chair we often spent hours talking about many things. He gave me a great deal of responsibility, and trust at an early age. Through the years I have reministed about those fond times we shared together. My heart felt condolences to his family. Thank You Tom.

Tom was my grandfathers best friend. Because of this I got to grow up with "Uncle" Tom. What a sweet soul he was. He taught me to golf when I was a little girl and along with that came advice about life. He wrote a letter of recommendation when I applied to college. He was family to us. When my grandfather passed 5 years ago, he was devastated. I just hope him and my grandfather, Dale are in heaven with a bud light, Tom chain smoking, throwing out dirty words while playing golf. That's how I will remember him.
