Tom Takahashi Obituary

Born in May 1930 in Florin, CA. Tom passed away peacefully on February 23, 2017. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Yaeno Takahashi, siblings and their spouses, Yo Takahashi (Misuko), Amie Fujimoto (Tom), and Alice Uyeno. He is survived by his son Ric, sisters Fran (Ken) Yokota, Terry (Eddie) Yokoyama, and brother-in-law Fred Uyeno, as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom was raised on his parents' vineyard in Florin. In May 1942, he and the rest of the family were interned at Manzanar Internment Camp until August 1945. After the war, the family returned to Florin where Tom graduated from Elk Grove High School and later Sacramento City College. In 1950, Tom was drafted into the US Army and saw action in the Korean War. After 38 years of State Service, Tom retired from the State of California Office of Statewide Planning in 1994. In retirement, he enjoyed working out at 24 Hour Fitness and his many trips to Hawaii. As an avid golfer, he enjoyed golfing with friends and shot his age a few times into his 80s. A private service was held at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento. The family extends its appreciation to the staff of Comforts of Home and Mercy Hospice for their care and support of Tom.

I should have made an effort to locate you when you stopped sending me a Christmas card. I deeply regretted such negligence.
I'll never forget your thoughtfulness whenever we travelled together down to Southern Cal. May you rest in peace, Tom.
I promised to look/search for your son, Rick - to arrange a meeting with him, if possible. Hope he revisits this guest book.
Just in case, my cph: 916-718-2290; e-addr: [email protected].
