Annie Key Obituary

Mrs. Annie Ruth Chalk Key, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at her residence. Born September 13, 1930 in Rowan Co., She was the daughter of the late Wilks Chalk and Laura Rice Chalk. She was educated in the Public Schools of Rowan Co., and retired from Private Duty Nursing. Mrs. Key was a lifetime member of Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church, East Spencer, where she served on the choir, usher board, kitchen committee and various other organizations within the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Key, Sr., son, Harvey Leon “Mickey” Chalk, Siblings, Harvey Chalk, Walter Chalk, Herman Chalk, Bessie K. Edwards, Willie Henry Chalk, Doris Parker, Kate Ferrens, St. Lawrence Chavis, R.L. Rice, Lillie Mae Clowney, Marie Clowney, Elwillie Chalk. She leaves loving memories to her children, Brenda Chalk, Fannie Johnson of Maryland, Anita Gardner (Enoch) of Georgia, Larry Chalk (Marilyn), Crystal Key, Rita Krider all of Salisbury, Charles Key (Sylvia) of Reidsville, brother, Melvin Chalk of Salisbury, 102 grandchildren; Host of Great Grands; Great Great Grands; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special Friends, Cathy C. Alexander, Rev. Reginald Massey, Cheryl Houston, Rebecca B. Stinson, other relatives and friends. Arrangements: Public Walk Thru from 2-5 pm Thursday, August 5, 2021 at A. R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home Inc. Funeral Service: 2pm Friday, August 6, 2021 at Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church, East Spencer. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.
