Bernard E. Hunter

Mr. Bernard E. Hunter, age 68 of 3550 Dogwood Court, Salisbury, passed, Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 at the home of his niece, Priscilla Hunter. He was born in Rowan County on, Aug. 28, 1953 to the late Herbert A. Hunter and Cory Selena Stinson Hunter. He was a graduate of West Rowan High School. He furthered his education at Rowan Cabarrus Community College where he received certification in Heating and Air Conditioning. He was last employed at GDX Automotive as a machine operator.He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Archie Hunter; sisters, Ida Hargrave, Mabel Burns, Nancy E. Hunter, Mayzella Forney; brothers, Albert Hunter, James Hunter, Daniel Hunter, Calvin Hunter, and Oscar Hunter. Suvivors include brother, Mr. Alonzo S. Hunter (Rachel), East Spencer; sisters, Estell Salters, and Margaret Hunter, both of Roanoke, Va.; step-daughter, Cassandra Walker, New York; grandson raised in the home, Preston Wallace, III; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Arrangements: Service: Saturday, Jan. 22 at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Visitation: 12:30. Funeral: 1. Rev. Dr. Roy Dennis, pastor, eulogist. Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park. Masks are required at the visitations and service. Public viewing, Friday, Jan. 21 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m., weather permitting. Hairston Funeral Home is serving the Hunter family.
